a few questions
Hi guys, I need better mileage out of my 07. My local diesel shop deals in edge stuff but said that they had some issues with early 07s (like my 04/07 build date truck) with the programmers messing with the computer. I don't want to do deletes because of warranty issues, also I camp a lot so If I have a problem it will likely be far from here. If I got a smarty can I run it without deletes and still improve my mpg? Any input will be helpful. Thanks.

You can not improve fuel milage very much when the computer is injecting raw fuel into the DPF to burn off the carbon in it. The fuel comes from the same tank as the injection pump and the more idling and low speed driving you do the more it cycles. That is why the DPF delete along with modified programming makes a noticable increase in milage. The 2010's are slightly better but the 2011's with urea offset the good in the programming with the cost of the urea.

^^^^it does not inject fuel into the dpf. also the only trucks running urea are the cab/chassis trucks (dodge anyways. ford and chevy all run DEF). the dpf/egr delete and modified programming results in better mileage allows the engine to breath and eliminates the regen cycles, change in timing and duration of the injector cycles. ^^^
edge runs hot on the dodges. want mileage, do the deletes and run a smarty.
if you run the edge, you still will have warranty issues. kind of one of those 6:1, 1/2 dozen to the other kinda things.

The Smarty just in S mode (stock) will gain about 0.5 MPG on average per tank. This is just by disabling the EGR function which really could be done with unplugging the EGR motor. IF you get an uploader like Smarty or H&S etc, your warranty may be toast anyway simply by plugging in. Depends on the Dealer.

My first thought is your warranty is 5/100K if I'm not mistaken. The math says you are on your way out anyway. Besides, chances are unless you're hammering on it with deletes your odds are alot better you won't have to see dealer anyway. Except for the too often ECM updates. Which Smarty and H&S both keep up with on in their updates.- Have 16k on mine and no regrets- ran H&S and now Smarty- Love the fuel and savings and clean oil. FWIW

all warranties no matter what manufacture start on the original date of purchase (if you are not the original owner, it still goes back to the ORIGINAL date of purchase to the first owner). All warranties no matter what manufacture are for example 3yr 36,000 miles. this is an EITHER OR. if you run up 36001 miles on the 2nd year= warranty dead. cummins motor is 5 yr OR 100,000 miles whichever COMES first. even if the truck only has 10 miles on it, after 5 years = warranty dead.
the new trucks have a 3yr/36k mileage warranty for base (this covers interior, electrical etc).
engine, transmission, t-case and axles are 5yr/100k which ever comes first.
