Does 6.7 mean no more straight pipe.....
Does all of the goverment crap that will be on the new 6.7 mean that we will no longer hear the sweet sound of a straight piped Cummins? To me owning a Dodge Cummins that can't be heard is heartbreaking.

The muffler has no effect on emissions, no wiring attached to it. So it could come off easily. It will need is some kind of "wiring bypass" to plug into the cat/soot collector thing

the 07 with aftertreatment will be a very tough challenge to bypass.... there are more than 190 fault codes. and some of them are for missing DOC or DPF fault codes, the ECM will sense if one is missing, along with knowing what the readings should be for the number of hours and duty cycle that the engine is seeing. so just running a resistor in the differential pressure sensor will not be enough, along with doing something to all 3 temperature sensor that will have to change continously to show that it is oxidizing either in passive or active regeneration.
and most of these fault codes will generate a severe derate.
no fun driving a truck like that.

Sounds like modding it will be really tricky. I bet there will be guys figuring it out, it will just take a while. And it will be only guys that are not that concerned with keeping the warranty. I am hoping I don't have to smog our trucks. Even if it is smog legal, smogging is a pain and it cost money.

It looks like there is 2 small stainless tubes coming from it.. From previous posts I think this is to determine if the particulate filter is clogged.. I wonder if you could just tie the 2 tubes together with maybe a mall needle valve (to create some restriction).. keep the flow open so it never thinks it is dirty and doesn't go into cleaning mode..
Just a thought...

If you wanna straight pipe it, go ahead. I have done it many times.
But the planning it out on DTR is what strikes me as odd/inappropriate. Notice I usually stay out of such discussions.
But you are right, someone will figure out a way around. 6.7 Smarty?
