Did deletes and smarty. No smoke?

So I finally did the deletes and Smarty Jr. and TBE. I have the settings at SW1, Torque-3, Fuel-2, PoD-70. Question is why doesnt black smoke come out when I floor it? my buddies cummions and Ford smoke alot under wide open throttle? Any suggestions?

a) your settings are too low to smoke
b) smartys are known for not smoking

try sw7, tq3, fuel 3, pod 99

I think the question should be "Do you want smoke, if so Why?"
Visible smoke is the result of excessive fuel due to inefficiencies in the system.
My '08 makes all the power I'll ever need with no visible smoke AND good mileage, what more could you ask for?

10" Stacks rollin' clouds of coal smoke?

I've got the smarty jr too. On the stock, 40 and 70 hp settings, there will be very little, to no smoke. You load the 100 hp performance tune and she will roll some coal. Keep in mind the 100 hp will eat the tranny if you play too much.

Not that easy to make the 6.7 smoke. You could install a smoke switch. Instructions are on here somewhere.

thanks for the replies. I guess it wont smoke like the others. Im going to have to change my Torque values. I dont need any broken transmissions.
And what exactly does the PoD setting do? I thought the SW1-3 was the HP setting.
No worries. I just think it look pretty cool when you see a diesel being floored and black smoke comes out.

Unburnt fuel at 4 plus dollars a gallon what a wast. I want the most avalible HP with out smoke. All that unburnt fuel is what caused all this DPF mess.

You're experiencing complete combustion. My '07 will smoke if I dump the pedal. Not good.

Judging by the sound of it complete combustion sounds like a good thing.

I have an 08, 6.7L. Running a Smarty s67. Never had any smoke through SW1 to SW5, burns clean. I have not played in the higher values yet.

I wouldn't play with the POD too much unless you are for all out performance. the Power on Demand feature allows you to load a much larger HP tune and then trim it back with the % setting to where ever you feel comfortable, then with the tap of the uploader you can jack it up.

For me I just run the stock tunes and play with the TQ setting a bit. You have to be careful, even on the SW3 setting with TQ set to 3, you can feel the torque converter shudder under WOT blasts. But the tires usually break loose first.

Not a smoker.. Thats Smarty's claim to fame. Good power, EGT control and no smoke! Earlier versions, like R10 were smokers but they trimmed the tune to be a smoke free version. To me the response is just as good without it. Compared to my 97 that will smoke out intersections, the 6.7 launches harder and less lag.

this is how i understand Smarty Jr.s settings

sw1=40hp
sw2=70hp
sw3=100hp

tq1=close to stock torque management
tq4=no torque management (all the torque available) should be close to 200ft# over stock if running sw3

tm1=not much fuel timing added
tm3=lots of fuel timing added (on the brink of needing upgraded fuel pump and injectors and will rattle alot
tm4=upgraded fuel pump and injectors required

maybe its also because I have the tune set on fuel mileage istead of performance.
If you shouldnt mess with the power on demand with a stock motor what should you set the value to?

I'd leave a well running machine alone. I'm very happy these things are programmed to not smoke, and run the way they do finally. If you want smoke, go get yourself the smoke switch mentioned here previously, or start a campfire to burn your $ with when you want to.
