Deletes finally done
Finally finished deletes my question is I followed blakes calif. deletes thread and every thing works good. I went with the sw1 setting on smarty to save auto trans while pulling toy hauler. I tried sw 3 and the truck really hauls *** hard to keep tires from smoking but man what a ride !!!! anyway I have no codes and every thing seems fine. Do I need to disconnect sensors at the nox canistor or leave hooked up ? did not see any directions as to this process . Directions say there are 5 but on my 2008 the fifth from the rear of the truck is on the nox. there are 2 sensors that go to the nox. my delete pipe removes the 2 canistors dpf and in front next to dpf I dont know what that is ? anyway it's removed. Second question...does the sw1 program delete the 4th injection cycle as theres is no dpf to burn the extra fuel ? any answers would be helpfull. What kind of fuel milage improvements should I be seeing stock was 10.9 -12.9 EMPTY NO LOAD...
Thanks Mark

Congratulations on joining BlackTec!!
You can disconnect all sensors in the exhaust with the ME software in use. I have left a couple hooked up just due to plugging a hole in the DPF delete pipe I bought. It had a bung for the O2 sensor so I just left it in the system. But its able to run a full delete exhaust system with no sensors in place.
The ME software on any level removes the 4th injection event and does not perform any regen cycles. Also it removes the EGR function as well.
Mileage should improve a good couple of MPG depending on usage. My last tank was highway only with a mix of winter/spring diesel, 70 mph with only minor load. 18.4 mpgUS.

To lil dog
I followed your previous advice concerning the question of the ME program.
I plugged the unit into the computer and sure nuff it says ME. although I don't know much about weather it automatically just downloads the ME software or if there is something i'm missing. Probbley just over thinking the situation all I can say is on sw3 she will definetly roll some smoke and is much faster. Just getting ready for vacation and don't want to be stranded pulling trailer in the rockeys. trying to dot all my I'S AND CROSS MY T'S Before I leave any input i would be gratefull. The directions on the smarty could have been better...kinda vague....
thanks

If your Smarty reads "ME Version" when you plug it in, it does download the ME version. Even if you set it at stock, the emissions are deleted/turned off.
Mine does around 17 or 18 mixed state road and city driving, and I have seen as high as 22 on the interstate, this is unloaded mileage. haven't towed yet.
Good luck, you'll love it

Cleaner oil
With calif. Deletes will i be seeing cleaner oil. I assume the egr is disabled so it won't be re-circulating that soot crap back into the oil ? Will it effect the turbo that craps got to be going somewhere ? I also assume that now it's being pushed thru the turbo will this shorten the life of turbo ?
Thank for any insites

If you removed the egr actuator plunger from the egr actuator motor, and plugged your egr tube then yes, you will not have the soot running back into your engine, and will have cleaner oil. It will keep the inside of your engine soot free and will help your turbo. With egr removed/disabled, you can also get away from the CJ-4 oil. I have always used Amsoil 15W-40 heavy duty diesel and marine oil in my 5.9 cummins engines. On my '03 5.9, I was using 25k mile oil changes, with just changing the filter and adding makeup oil @ 5k mile intervals.

So, the EGR motor should never really (in the most ideal sense) be unplugged and I'm not sure exactly what would happen if the plunger was not removed for the ME version...

From the mads "me" installation page:
Required EGR / Throttle valve / EGR Cooler modifications :
There are two possible ways to delete the components in the engine bay.
1--Disconnect only the throttle valve connector and block of the EGR. In this case all other connectors and
components can remain in place.
2--Remove the EGR system entirely. Then all components, EXCEPT the EGR actuator motor, can be unplugged and
taken off.

If you are deleted, then yes, you can switch over at any time. The non-deleted trucks need to use the CJ-4 oils. The deleted trucks can benifit from the higher TBN levels of the HD Diesel & Marine oil. My truck had 50k miles on it when I bought it. I deleted the dpf(stock downpipe and muffler left on), and blocked the egr. ran it for a couple of weeks and changed over to Amsoil 15w-40 HD Diesel & Marine. I use a bottle of engine flush when I switch over to synthetic.
