CEL's w/Edge...buy a Smarty?

I hate it that I only seem to return to this site when I have problems, but here I am.

I have an 07.5, dpf deleted with an H&S kit (three simms installed), egr blocked with butterfly removed, and an Edge Juice with Attitude...and I can go a month without a CEL and then it will come back....and I get it every half hour (after the Edge clears it).

It used to be something temperature related...where I would get a CEL when it was cold, and never after the engine was up to temp. Now it makes no difference.

I have cleaned the map sensor, cleaned the connection of the sims, and even added some additive to the fuel. *** am I missing? I am so fed up with these CEL's...that I am ready to just buy a Smarty, ditch the EJA, and be done with any CEL's.

Any ideas of what could be causing me these headaches? or is the Edge just not up to consistent clearing of codes?

Codes that keep coming up: P242b, P244a, P245a, and 0489.

Thanks for any help...really need some!

I have checked the coolant level...this is good. I also cleaned the egr cooler solenoid plug connector, and there was no indication of a problem there.

What about the two O2 sensors...should they be removed and cleaned or might there be an issue with the electrical connectors? There is some vibration in the exhaust system, when coming to a stop sign...and I have spent some time trying to algin the exhaust by twisting the tailpipe and muffler, to reduce this. After this alignment, and the vibration is almost gone...I have no codes....yet when it is vibrating...a code will come up.

I know...does not seem like anything that would really cause the CEL to come up....but I am really out of ideas.

What about the two DTC routines that are run by the ECM...could this be something that the EDGE is having trouble with, and can't clear the codes as well as it should? Does not really explained the long periods of time where there are no CEL's and then constant CEL problems...but I am just brainstorming.

What about the exhaust brake??? I never turn my exhaust brake on, and have read that it is a good idea to keep it on as much as possible.

Might this be the cause of my CEL's?....as most of my driving is city and 25% highway.

Sim problems. More than likely they are faulty. I get the 242b and 244 all the time. I dont have my egr deleted yet. I usually ride for 15 to 20 mins code free then that familiar amber glow shows up to comfort me....

Im fixin to order the smarty and be done with it.

I would not know if I have a faulty sim. I pulled all three and checked the resistance. One of them was 300 ohms, and the other two were 297 ohms. Don't know if that variance is an issue, nor do I know if there is something loose inside, that breaks continuity...as they are sealed.

They came with the H&S DPF delete kit.

One other note, I have deleted the egr, but not the egr cooler...that is still hooked up.

I can't remember if 300 ohms is the right resistance or if it is 330 ohms.

I believe that H&S suggests and uses 330 ohm sims.

If all you have is just the CEL and your truck runs fine,I would not worry about it. I have been driving for 2 years with the CEL, too lazy to turn it off with the Edge Insight.

It is just a silly stupid light. Why would you want to spend a lot of time and money just to turn off a light that serves no useful purpose.

Swap the sims around.... Ive heard that this may help the problem. Dern electronics are awful finicky.
