We will be aquiring a motor out of my bosses truck soon for id like to keep anonymous price. His wife recently filled up with bad fuel and the dealership told her the drive it and the water in fuel light will go off and this new motor will burn off any contaminents I told him otherwise to drop the tank push the lines and change the filter. Needless to say I guess I was ignored boy does he regret that. The truck wasnt drove much after they were told this by who come to find out was only a SALESMAN at the dealership she bought it from shes not the brightest by the way and knows everything! Neways will driving it to town the next day it began to cut out and pop. She got it towed the rest of the way to the local dealership in town and they said of course fuel contamination no warranty see if insurance can cover it and they quoted him 13k to fix it doing the whole fuel system lift pump, fuel lines, cp3, fuel rail, feed tubes, and injectors. When in my opinion and the opinion of a few other guys it only needs probably some new injectors, tank cleaning, new filter and primed with fresh fuel. But when we asked about getting parts back the head service tech. said well all parts that arent cores are yours but the cp3 and injectors have a core charge which come to find out the 6.7L parts arent being remaned like the 5.9Ls are so they should be ours to right according to head parts guy so i think he would know, so i confronted the head service tech and he said your wrong then called me back saying ya we are now going to have to replace the whole motor star just wants to go ahead and make sure we avoid any future problems here basicly knew they could get all the money they needed from his insurance so their going to make sure they do it big and wanted to try and avoid myself getting the parts back but the 6.7L motor doesnt have a core fee either they arent remaning them just like parts according to parts guy so that should be up for grabs also and buy the way a new motor is 22k with labor. I do feel strongly that the motor internals are still intact and in great condition not alot of fuel in oil at all barely came up on dipstick and still has viscosity and a good bit of it. The motor has 3k miles on it. Give me some figures with and without the injectors i may pull them and the cp3 off and possibly get some trick injectors for my 5.9l i read that don m can customize them to fit a 5.9l b/c the solenoids are much better on them.

If you do get it I sure hope that everything is fixable in that motor. Could be a fun project if someone can figure out how to get around the DPF and other emissions.

 

Apparently some of the big HP guys are using the 6.7 now. I am not sure of the details, but I know it is being done.
