6.7 Turbo Back Exhaust

I am going to conduct a complete egr,dpf delete, using a Smarty JR on my 2008 6.7. What is everyone using for a turbo back exhaust system? I am looking for feed back on install, sound and quality of the exhaust system.

Thanks,
James

I just went with the Flo-Pro downpipe and DPF delete pipes. The stock muffler is a straight flow through and small..

I am using a MBRP 5" exhaust. This was easy to install and uses the stock rubber isolators along with the stock mounting points. Sound is OK, not like a5.9L engine and this is due to the VGT turbo. You will get a jet engine noise (high pitch whistle) when the exhaust brake is engaged.

On my 08 I was running the same setup as LD

Almost factory quiet with pretty decent flow.

How does the Flo-Pro products fit? I am looking for more of a MPG gain vs max power, so I think the 5 inch system would be over kill.

They fit perfect.........put them on my '08 after the deletes & it was a 20 minute job. The worst part was disassembling & handling 150 lbs of emissions crap & taping off the sensor plugs.

I've got the flo pro 5" turbo back straight pipe egr delete shibby tv delete smarty s67me scout ll monitor s&b cold air intake on a 50 mile commute 1/3 city 2/3 hwy before delete over head said 16.8 mpg after deletes 21.1 mpg runnin bout 65mph hwy smarty on sw1 at 99% with all settings at defaults. Exhaust has some noise to it drownes some bout 80 mph. Brake sounds bad Edit I think. With windows up and little radio you can't hear it. Fitment was good as long as u can weld the joints. I used supplied clamps and tack welded each joint and hangers lined up good too with factory rubbers. Prob can't beat it for the price. Hope that's heplful

Yup, that DPF must weight 50 lbs by itself. The transmission cross member has to be dropped slightly to let the downpipe out that last 2". Other than that it was a pretty easy job actually. Took more time to tape off the connectors.

4" or 5", little difference. I've got Flowpro 5" turbo back with S&B cai and Smarty JR. ME. I have left the "tune" on "fuel economy" and it runs great, gets 3 to 5 mpg better mileage, has more power than I'll ever really need.
I am used to having lots of speed avail. as I commute on my 170 hp sport touring 2 wheeler. It might be that I'm getting older but, lately I prefer the truck. Way more convenient, comfortable and I still get giggles from dusting the little Hondas, ya know, the little cars with the big mufflers!

PS The FloPro 5" system was very easy to install, uses the stock hangers/rubbers and sounds great!

in reality a 5" turbo back system is not needed until the 600ish hp mark and twins or a huge single. you will actually loose a little bottom end with a 5".

but i have had 5" on the past 4 trucks and this new one will have it too. I also go with flo pro stainless on all mine

It's tough to hide the welds or band clamps in odd places if you need to send it back in for warranty work. I was tempted though when it came time to remove the cat/down pipe. Pulled the trans x member loose instead.

Will the 4" pipe not drone as much as the 5" does. Have heard a few guys say the 5 can be a little obnoxious.

I get an increase in drone at the 2000-2200 RPM mark more now, but its not bad enough to complain. I wanted to keep my stock pipes for a rainy day and wasn't much extra work really.

The exhaust note is certainly different with the VGT vs a regular turbo. You can really hear it pinch down as it gains boost a low RPM.
