2011 6.7 stepping up to GM/Ford hp/tq rating

Just was on Ram site and I guess the pressure from GM/Ford a 400hp/800lbs TQ war wins so they will give us coming this spring "An enhanced 6.7L Cummins coming this spring will offer an unsurpassed maximum 800 lbs torque with 22,700 towing" direct from their site. What next 500hp and 1200lbs tq for 2012

Oh it's only March so can't be to old. No mention of this in any diesel mag I've read since Jan. Maybe not new to you but was to me and maybe some others. Just never seen a post on this so thought I'd just share my find but guess not.

That is because the diesel magazines are about three or four months old when they are published. It takes that long to write and put the magazine together and then print it.
Also this announcement was on the Internet the day it happened. Turbo Diesel Register had it on their site on 9 of Feb.

I still have not heard mention of HP>>> of course torque is the inline 6's bread and butter, but HP plays some big roles as well.

I don't see Dodge ever catching up in the HP dept.

Personally, I would love to see Dodge step back from the table, and take a stand on reliability, economy, and iron out the emissions issues. The torque and horsepower are more than sufficient- at some point, there has to be a manufacturer that will say "that's enough".
I value reliability and economy more than being the biggest dog in the yard.

X2

The HP "war" is for the gullible and foolish. Being first up the hill is irrelevant, having great control on the way down is central. To the above let us add longevity. Emissions controls are likely, IMO, to take away from longest life without Extra Care in Engineering (for those of your old enough to remember). The lowest operating cost per mile for a given life is the point of paying the premium for a diesel engine.

If they would build a truck with 250 hp and 600 torque that got 22 MPG they would sell them faster than they could build them.

Not sure about that, we our a nation bent on numbers the bigger the better. It'll take alot more then 4 dollar fuel to change that. Other wise none of use would be on a forum.

I hate fords and chebbie diesels but if either one of them came up with a 22mpg truck I'd sell this sucker in a Hong Kong second.............and buy another of the mentioned two. Yes, I have owned all three, three Duramaxs and one power stroke. Now this piece of junk. I will say that this truck would stomp all over any of my previous trucks tho................ I don't need or want anymore power just mileage. With fuel being this high I am blessed to be where I can ride my motorcycles and not have to drive the truck very much....
