6.7 Quad Cab Short Bed STACKS questions
I have a question for you guys and gals and hopefully someone on here has done this or knows someone who has.
I've got an 08 2500 QCSB 4x4. I want to run dual stacks. There's a kit on the MBRP website that says it's for quad cab long beds only but I found the same kit on TheDieselStore.com, Xtremediesel.com, and a few other sites and it says it's for either short or long beds. It's a DPF-Back setup. I got to thinking and while the long bed is 2' longer than the short bed it seems to me that the distance from the DPF to the bed should be the same so the kit should fit.
Any thoughts on this or any experience with a DPF Back kit? I live in Cali for emissions and cant afford to lose my engine warranty so that's why im sticking with the DPF-Back.
Thanks for any and all imput!

The end of the DPF is slightly behind the front of the bed where stacks would go through. If you just put an elbow on the end of the DPF, your stacks would go through the bed somewhere around where the front of the wheel humps are. You'd have to make some sort of twisted exhaust turn-around thing to make it go up to the font of the bed. I think this is why it is only a "long-bed" kit.

I don't see how it can provide the sound. The CAT, NOx absorber, and DPF are what keeps the exhaust quiet. Many people have removed the factory muffler and noticed zero noise difference.
The aesthetics, on the other hand, would be killer. And, a benefit of having a functional emissions system would be that your stacks would be MUCH easier to clean with no worries about having your windows down when you start your truck.

I have stacks on mine with a DPF delete, and it's no where near as loud as I thought it would be. I'm kind of surprised, actually. I doubt there would be any sound coming from a DPF back kit.

I'm one of the ones who thought that taking the muffler out of my 6.7 would give some sound........wrong........if you want sound, buy a tbe for a 04.5 to 07 5.9, get a good dpf delete kit, and be amazed! I got my tbe for $309 after tax with free shipping. If you're interested, PM me.
