6.7 Quad Cab Short Bed STACKS questions

I have a question for you guys and gals and hopefully someone on here has done this or knows someone who has.

I've got an 08 2500 QCSB 4x4. I want to run dual stacks. There's a kit on the MBRP website that says it's for quad cab long beds only but I found the same kit on TheDieselStore.com, Xtremediesel.com, and a few other sites and it says it's for either short or long beds. It's a DPF-Back setup. I got to thinking and while the long bed is 2' longer than the short bed it seems to me that the distance from the DPF to the bed should be the same so the kit should fit.

Any thoughts on this or any experience with a DPF Back kit? I live in Cali for emissions and cant afford to lose my engine warranty so that's why im sticking with the DPF-Back.

Thanks for any and all imput!

They should have a kit for either and if they don't just get the long box version and cut it to fit

The end of the DPF is slightly behind the front of the bed where stacks would go through. If you just put an elbow on the end of the DPF, your stacks would go through the bed somewhere around where the front of the wheel humps are. You'd have to make some sort of twisted exhaust turn-around thing to make it go up to the font of the bed. I think this is why it is only a "long-bed" kit.

Stacks on a DPF equipped truck? There would be no smoke. That would be like putting stacks on a hemi...

It's supposed to still provide the sound and I love the looks. It's definitely going to be better than stock!

They have an elbow called the " Quad Cab Elbow " that does what you're talking about. The photos on MBRP look just like the underside of my truck. And my DPF ends about 8 inches from the front edge of the bed of my truck just as the long bed one does in the photos on MBRP. Here's a pic of the kit. I'm going to do it and if something needs to be custom then my cousin can do it at his speed shop but I think it'll bolt right up

I don't see how it can provide the sound. The CAT, NOx absorber, and DPF are what keeps the exhaust quiet. Many people have removed the factory muffler and noticed zero noise difference.

The aesthetics, on the other hand, would be killer. And, a benefit of having a functional emissions system would be that your stacks would be MUCH easier to clean with no worries about having your windows down when you start your truck.

X2 - the silencer must be on the BlueTec trucks just for general principles... it's tiny compared to the 5.9L OEM muffler.

There's stacks on a Hemi here in town - looks pretty good too - but just isn't the same without the Smoke & Thunder!

I have stacks on mine with a DPF delete, and it's no where near as loud as I thought it would be. I'm kind of surprised, actually. I doubt there would be any sound coming from a DPF back kit.

See my vid in my signature...

I'm one of the ones who thought that taking the muffler out of my 6.7 would give some sound........wrong........if you want sound, buy a tbe for a 04.5 to 07 5.9, get a good dpf delete kit, and be amazed! I got my tbe for $309 after tax with free shipping. If you're interested, PM me.
