Question Yay or Nay...~6" Lift & 40's

I did a VERY crude Photoshop of what my truck would look like with ABOUT a 6" lift and ABOUT 40's. Obviously, I cannot be exact, but using proportions I think I came close. What do you guys think I should do? I just cannot decide!!!

I went to pay for my wheels today and when I pulled up to there office they had an 06 Dodge with 24.5 with a 9 inch lift and that thing looked good.. Man I Wish I did't buy these 24 shaved wheels or I would have went with set up . The tire was a r11.24.5 I think it was like a 41 inch tire..

This truck had a BDS 6 inch and a 3 inch body

I bet that looked fantastic.

Anyways, if I were to lift it I would probaly stick w/ the 37's the 40's may looked to stuffed, but then again on a dually it may not.

I've always loved lifted trucks, especially a tastefully looking dually like yours, do it!

I was only doing the 6" lift so that it would clear the 40" tires I want to put on. I just wanted to put a beefier tire on the truck.

Thanks. That pic shows the lift AND the 40" tires in case you thought those were the same 37s.

Nope. I think you've got the stance nailed just how it is.

I got a response from Bridgestone Australia that saud to contact Bridgestone US, which I did. However, I can only reach them through a generic website submission form and I have not heard back from them in over 2 weeks!

Bastards!

I voted no.

I think it looks better lower to the ground. Yeah the taller rubber looks good but I think the truck overall would look funny being that high.

Ive never liked the look of tall short beds. They look like a boxy toy truck. Yeah I know your MC is a LB frame but its the bed that looks weird being that talll. Yeah 40's look great on long beds but lame on shortbeds. It looks like the owner is trying too hard and the poportions are way off on a short bed.

I seriously hope you dont do it. If anything a 2" all around lift would look better. As soon as you go lifting a 7,000 truck and put 40" tires it will always have an adverse affect on how it handels.

It sounds like you got our hand full enough with that DD clutch and I wouldnt stick a 6" lift and 40's on your plate also. It would be too big of a handful to drive and you'd end up missing the way it was.

Dan

P.S I think you'd be happier with a built auto...no rattleing, shaking, vibrations, scratching, clunking, missed shifts, slow shifts, peddle pressure, and the ability to multi task ie. eating a cheeseburger, and talking on the phone

I could never do an auto. As convenient as it would be, I absolutely hate all automatics. No kind of control or connection to the road. All 3 vehicles I own are all manuals and I could never go any other way. I do agree with you on the proportions and handling though. That is why my first choice was to do the beefier tires that would still fit. Of course, that would require Bridgestone to actually REPLY to my e-mail, LOL!

I think what I would do instead of lifting it would be the Kelderman 0-2" lift. That way I can still have the ride improved and leveling capabilities but won't have a very big lift. I suppose in that worst case scenario, I could probably get by with 275/70 tires that are in the 38.5" range.

I just found this photo on 2 sites theduallystop and Kelderman

I would stick with no more then a 6 inch lift.. these tires are heavy as hell as you know..I for see problems with my front end in the near future due to the big semi wheels and tires

I have seen that truck on both of those sites as well. I think it looks cool but it is a little impractical for me. I am basically looking for the most tire with the least lift. I have always thought that rule of thumb looked best. That is no doubt a great looking truck though.

I would leave it the EXACT same... I think it looks great!... Like I've mentioned before, the coolest thing you could do to that truck is make it a full sized dually.

How wide of a tire can you get away with in the front with just a 2" lift? 12" ? 13?
