Question XM OR Sirrius???

I've started looking at adding satellite radio to my truck and the wifes car, but I'm unsure of which system to go with. Who has the better set-up and reception. I'm sorta leaning towards XM with the delphi display unit. (Costco has a pretty good deal on the auto/home combo) Also wondering if anyone offers a multi car setup unit? (2 car units, 1 billing rate) Any input will help.

both companies allow you to add additional receivers to your account for a discounted rate. i know sirius is $6.99 per additional receiver. i had XM for a while and switched to sirius. there is no objective way to measure which is better but i found sirius plays much more of the music i enjoy (rock/jambands) not to mention every NHL game. there are numerous setups for each company, an inexpensive way to go is with a portable FM-modulated receiver. these play though your car's FM radio. i bought a couple "sirius one" receivers for $20 each on ebay, they're slick. http://search.ebay.com/sirius-one_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8

Best thing to do is go to each of their websites and sign up for the free preview. That way you can judge for yourself which one offers the programing that fits you. They both have great set ups so it will come down to the one that plays your kind of music and programing. I went with the sirius JVC model with the home and car craddles and cuople the car one with an interface unit to hard wire it through the radio. The fm modulator wasn't all that bad but the interface through the radio is night and day difference. Pics of the install are in my gallery.

hov,
how good is the reception??? Looks neat, definately in my ball park. I want to spend less than 150$ for both vehicles. I saw that unit at a local retailer, but the FM modulator setup I questioned. Honestly, I dont want to drill my roof or poke the cable thru my rear brake light housing. That mainly the reason it has been on the back burner for almost 2yrs now.

my brother with XM is considering switching to sirius after listening to mine, and he was talking about how much better XM is than Sirius last year.

I will be getting Sirius sometime after the newyear. Won't have it for Stern on the 3rd, I have been comtemplating for quite a while. The XM in my father in laws Caddie stinks.

My wife wants to have a Sirius sat radio installed in my truck for a Christmas present. Since she has Sirius in her car the additional radio is $6.99 per month. I don't know how it works out if you pay by the year like we do.

reception is good. no drilling required, you can run the antenna wire up the a-pillar beside the weatherstrip and stick the antenna on the front corner of the roof on most any vehicle.

Got mine for free from Howard Stern last year. Cost me 39.99 for the home cradle and 125.00 for the year subscription.
