OK, not very scientific but here goes.

Had the original XZT box (65hp) coming down to Florida from Mi on my 07 4x4 5.9 and got 10-12 towing my 5th wheel (total weight was just under 20000 lbs). Did not have any real travel time empty so no comparrison. Went home at Christmas (Michigan 1200 miles or so) empty, no 5er, and having just installed the X2 with the millage tune, the first one available, got a pencil & paper actual of 21.5 going to Mi and 21.7 going back to Florida. Truck had about 14000 miles on it and a fresh oil change and fresh differentials with 75-140 oil in them. Truck was lightly loaded as we left most stuff in Florida. Now have the City tune loaded and truck seems to have better low end power and mileage is aroung 16 or so. I am doing some short trips so not sure how accurate it is but those are the numbers I currently have. Really like the X2 box and how much more availabe power it seems to have over the older XZT box. Have tried the 100 hp setting 1 time but worried about breaking something so once was enough but you do know it is 100 hp gain. Pushes you right back in the seat.

Good luck and enjoy.....

Ok, the long and short is that once under power they are the same tuning.

The difference is that some felt that their driving style or driving areas were not letting them benefit from the regular mpg tuning. Some would get mileage on a highway trip but, around town they did not get the same gain.

So to help with this we started making our changes earlier in the rpm band. Anytime you alter timing you want to try to make certain you have boost psi to mask the "rattle". In this case we are not really able to do so because we are making the change extremely early to help with stop and go traffic, stop lights and very light throttle driving. If we wait for boost to come up at all the truck runs mostly stock as these people were literally driving the vehicles that easy.

You will notice as you ease into the pedal that the rattling sound sort of disappears. This is not because we stop it is because boost is coming up and quiets the motor down. It won't hurt anything and is slightly annoying to me if I drive with the a/c off and the radio off but, in normal driving it is really not noticable.

File Name: 325 MPG CITY
New Release 01/08/2008
Models: DMPG0406
Software Version: 20090108
Feature Code Enabled: MPG_CITY

Features:
MPG File to help with mileage gains for city and stop and go driving
Could have slightly more timing noise at lower boost levels

Let us know how the rollers go. Some might be interested in a curve from the m3 tune if you want to waste a run on that setting. It will not be a power increase but, the curve will be different than stock.

OK, again as usual, thanks Quad. Wife did comment on the louder rattle but as I'm hard of hearing it didn't bother me much. Really appreciate the explimation to all of us. I am running the newer city millage tune so more idle noise but as was said it goes away very quickly under aceleration. It does seem to haver more low end torque though than the other mileage tune so guess I will have to credit that tot he quicker, earlier boost. Whatever it is really like it much more thant he older XZT unit.

Mostly seat of the pants as far as feeling etc. but still not extreme EGT issues. 1350-1400 under WOT for brief periods but not sustained, quickly drops back to "Normal" levels.
