Yeah, and it's a 1000X's cheaper/easier to convert an old Chevy than it would be to convert a newer truck. It's not like there's tons of these trucks sitting in junkyards and used parts being sold for a dime a dozen.

If you need 4x4 buy it, don't retrofit it. Too many changes...
I have an 07 4x4 Mega Cab, and a nice Jeep with an LS1 engine.

I wouldve put the 07 in your sig. It does seem kinda funny when you read the name and then the sig.

No need because the 07 is not the one I am playing with.

I never did hear from anyone if the frame mounts are all the same or not? It may be a bolt in job, which would make it much easier than putting one in an older truck that needed brackets welded to the frame in the right locations. Maybe I'm missing something...

I think you should learn to love the 4x2 for the advantages it has:

Better ride
Less weight
More GVWR slack
Better efficiency
The ability to be lowered and made to handle super well

4x2 trucks are great!!

Great! You already have a donor truck for the 4WD conversion.

Seriously, though, if you wanted to convert with OEM 3rd gen Dodge parts the swap would cost significantly more than selling the 2x4 and buying a 4x4. Don't bother unless you enjoy doing lots of needless work that could be easily and more cost-effectively avoided.

Financially you’d be better off to trade the truck for a 4x4, but it would be a cool project and get you some bragging rites.

I would think of more like putting on Gullwing doors, totally unecessary and lots of wasted time and money, but kinda cool that you did it just to try it.
