wire to tap into to control lift pump

I am need to know which wire to tap into so the ecm switches on the new lift pump. I am goin to run a 30 amp solenoid to power it properly but I want the ecm to switch it on and off. Anyone know what the color of the wire is on an 05?

there's 2 wires on the old lift pump,

multimeter it for which wire is the voltage,

and i would come off that with a fuse & hit your relay

i would come off the battery or alternator and fuse that for +12v to the relay and onto the pump

if you need help with wiring up the relay, i can draw it out for you.
most car relays are rated 30 amps - plenty for a lift pump

To make for an easier install, you can get a wiring harness/ relay from Glacier Diesel Performance. It plugs into the OEM LP connection for a signal. I'm sure Richard would sell one to you.

im goin to wire it in myself. Can I just use a test light to see which wire has power or do I need to look for a specific voltage?

Syndicate - I wired my FASS so that it would be triggered by the factor fuel pump relay. This is what I did:

1) There are four wires running into the harness at the in-tank factor lift pump on an '05. If I remember correctly, the two outer wires are power and ground to the pump, the two inner are for the fuel gauge. Use Richard Martin's GDP instruction manual for the '05 to identify the colors (black with orange tracer and orange with red tracer if I remember correctly).

2) I purchased Deutsch (sp?) connectors from Battsracing.com. Cut the 2 wires to the fuel pump and splice in the connectors (male to one, female to the other). One could elimate this step, and hard wire the new pump without the connectors, however you would then loose the ability to quickly change back to the stock pump in an emergency.

3) Run a wire (with appropriate connector) from the proximal positive (closest to the fuse box) side to a 20/30 amp relay as a trigger. This will allow you to trigger the second relay from the stock fuel pump relay

4) Wire the relay from the battery, ground appropriately, and the switched hot goes to the new fuel pump positive.

As an aside, there have been some who have mentioned problems switching the second relay with the first, as the stock relay needs to see a load to function properly, and the switch on the second relay doesn't provide a lot of resistance. But, ultimately, this set-up worked ok for me.

One could also just wire the new pump directly to the factory relay, skipping the second relay if you choose.

Hope this helps some.

- Jason
