Why doesn't this air filter fit??

Well guys, I bought a Fram air filter to replace the K&N that's already in the truck (paranoid of it). Anyway, I go to put it in, and it won't fit!! It fits in the air box, but sits too high in it for me to place the cover over it. The part # is CA9589. I'm pretty sure the air box is stock, but now I'm afraid to buy an air filter because I'm afraid it won't fit!! If I try putting it in like I did my Fram, it'll get all dirty and I can't return it. Any suggestions?

P.S.-I have no interest in mod filters or lifetime filters. just something I can change regularly. I like maintenance haha.

I checked the Fram site and it's the right part number. I got the filter in, but it wasn't easy! I had to work to get the filter box cover to snap into place, and there's even a gap where I can see part of the outer rim of the filter (the orange part). Either the filter is crappy fitting, improperly cut from the factory, or Fram has the wrong part number!!! I'd post pics if I had a camera!!!

Does anybody know why this filter was so hard to get in? The truck has the stock airbox and the part number is correct.

Because it's a crappy *** fram filter, and probably made in China.

Actually tighter the fit, better the sealing. Adding silcone grease on the seal will help.

Makes me feel better that it's not the wrong filter. Still, I would think the filter companies could design them to fit better.

I've had both and the Amsoil was easiest to get in. The Napa filter was pretty tight too. Tighter than stock but it didnt seem to me as tight as described above.
