Probably cause they have a variable vane turbo, so it produces boost at almost any speed thus acting like it spools quicker.. i'm sure some experts will chime in and either correct me or add to what i've stated.

I always figured that since their torque was higher in the powerband than ours, they had to really get on it to get moving, thus causing the turbo to spool faster. I never really needed to "get on it" with my trucks to get a particular load moving, thus never really getting the turbo to spool faster than normal if that makes any sense. Other than that I never really noticed a difference.

My '07 Dodge spools much quicker than my '04 powerjoke ever did. But thats probably because it was always broke anyway

You probably have a boost leak or a turbo going bad. Because if you say a 6.0 or a 6.4 powerstroke spools faster then your truck you got a problem

^^^what he said. I remember having to wait what seemed like 2-3 seconds after flooring the go pedal on the Ford before it would spool. My Dodge is pretty much instant.

V8's always rev easier than an inline 6, especially for a given displacement. Shorter & lighter rods, smaller pistons; more "ignition events", etc.

This may be a long shot, but It seems like V-8's having their particular V angle to allow for specific valve duration/overlap would cause the "air pump" theory about the system to naturally draw in and push out more air for relativey the same amount of work.

.....Just fishing here... don't go being harsh on me.

I always thought the powerstokes where the slowest spooling trucks on the planet!

Keep in mind that a lot of it has to do with factory tuning. It takes heat to spool the turbo, and it takes fuel to make heat. Keeping the EPA happy is usually not the best way to make good power.

I agree, I installed a Edge Juice w/ Attitude on a 01 F350 last Thursday and I am sooooo glad I got a Cummins, I was beginning to think the Turbo was gone it took so long to build any boost...

I recall a discussion on here once where they were discussing the V configuration to be an added benefit of spooling quicker. Also... displacement.

Ya my 05 takes a second or two to spool up. I would like to find a way to get to build boost sooner without having to get a new turbo yet. Will removing my Cat help with that?????
