Who is using propane for extra mileage?

One thing you have to be careful with propane is detanation. Propane has a much lower flash point than diesel. So when you inject it, it is wanting to burn very quickly. Now if you are running a chip that advances the injection timing, then throw the propane in which is going to advance it further you can end up with detonation. This is hard on the head gaskets and pistons.

I have been running a bullydog propane system on my 92 for bout 8 or so years now and can honestly say that it really works well. I gain right at 5 mpg when running loaded and about 3mpg running empty. I use 10 gallons of propane every 1200 miles. Sometime in the near future I will be installing the same system on my 05 and will report my findings.--Matt

Good point. I forgot to mention that I turned my Quad X2 off while running the propane. If you use a programmer that adds timing you should remove it before injecting propane into the motor. Good point.
