Who Runs 33"s with 48re & 3.73 Rear

Thinkin about those next meats......

Still running the stock 265 rugged trails.... very good tires; I'm considering
a mud tire, either a 285 or 33x12.50. I know I lose bottom end & tow power
but how bad is it....REALLY..?

My better judgement says to go to the michelin ltx...the supreme highway/mileage tire since 90% of the time I'm on pavement, but I do live
on a blackland ranch & want to go out there sometimes...just don't want to dig out a 8,000# truck when its wet. They say LTX's are dogs int the mud.

I tow a 29' travel trailer (5,000#) & don't want to lose much, if any, power.

Questions

1. Do 33"s fit on stock rims & stock suspensions without clearance and/or rubbing problems?
2. Straight out, do you notice much difference in power with 33"s?
3. How much mileage loss can I expect to lose altogether? (Going from street
tires to larger diameter mud grips)

Yes, no, and nothing you can tell on STOCK wheels. If you go to a heavier wheel you might see a difference. Noise will be the only factor.

Just so you know the 285's are only a 32" tire. I had them on my truck for the past 2 years, IMHO they are the perfect blend between size and gear ratio. I think that the 265's are actually to small for gear ratio purposes. In fact when I was buying 20's I was very particular about the OD of my new tires, so as to make them as close as possible to the 285's I have for winter use

Yeah, the guy at discount tire recommended 285's as a good "Next size up"tire.

I need low noise mud grips for the "Mrs." Any recommendations?

I like the bfg mud terrains... good looks, 3 ply sidewalls.....noisy?

I Have BFG M/T's in the 285. Not really noisy, but you will know they're there if you have stock exaust.

Just for comparison, I tow a 8500Lb travel trailer with Cooper 315's on stock rims with 3.73 and have no problems. In fact, with about 500lbs of gear in the bed and the trailer hooked up, I still have to go easy when accelerating from a stop light in the rain or I'll spin the tires. My truck is stock (NO MODS)and when driving with out the trailer I can still get 20+MPG on the highway (If I drive sane). Gotta love that sweet 5.9

I run the BFG A/T's in 285 on stock rims, no clearance problems(I had the 315's last with no trouble also) the A/T's are a good snow tire and decent in the mud and very little noise, they wear good with regular rotations and proper air, have not noticed a mpg drop or loss in power.

I like the toyo open country at,s. Very quiet, excellent traction. I have never had a better snow tire. I dont really do much mud, but the little that I have, I find them to be more than adequate.

so far I like them. Ride nice, they are the best mud tire I've had so far. They are pretty quiet for a mud tire IMO. Don't have too many miles on them yet so I'm not sure on how they will wear.

I have the 285 Nitto TerraGrapplers (E Rating)....

1. Perfect fit stock, no issues
2. I didnt notice any impact on perfromance (and this was before smarty)
3. Not enough to be noticable

Noise is not an issue, very minimal...but these aren't MT's

I was originally looking for the 285 Toyo AT's in E....but they were backordered so i went with the Nitto's....no regrets, as long as they wear well (I only have 9k on them so far), i'll buy them again.

If I didn't have the Dually I'd run 285's even though I think Toyo open country A/T 285's might fit. I've run Cooper s/t's and they are something between a full on mud tire and an all terrain...they wear like steel if you rotate often. I have a set of Toyo open country a/t 265 on the front and they are a good very quiet set of all terrains that seem to clear mud pretty good....not a full on mud tire but a good on off road tire at a good price. ks
