How far to the rear is the resonator? I always thought they were installed right after the down pipe.
I don't have any drone now, but when I get rid of my muffler I might. I'll be replacing it with a 4” Banks muffler. I’m hoping installing the new muffler right after the down pipe will stop any drone.

If you take off your resonator, I would keep it in the garage for a while, just in case you get a drone you can’t live with. Resonators are expensive to replace.
From what I’ve seen (one aftermarket resonator) resonators look like small straight through mufflers.
I need to get rid of my stock muffler to keep my EGT’s lower. I hope I don’t get the dreaded drone with the Banks! If so, I'll fork out the money and get a resonator.

I have an 06 and I don't have any resonator over the rear??
I have what I thought was a cat converter (same place as the resonator on my 2nd gen), but it is up front not far from the downpipe.

I have the RPM delete ,and was going to install it myself, after reading on here someone getting in installed at a Muffler shop for 40.00 bucks, and 30 minutes of dinking with it ,thats what I did,and had Lunch while I waited(time management)
I try to do all my own work ,but I've learned I don't do Mufflers
Now with the Delete,K&N Air intake and silencer ring gone ,it sound's like a "Jet" engine under the hood ,I'm a 49 year old kid and I like it

I did not notice any notable change in "Turbo noise" with just the delete pipe, but when I did the K&N air intake and removed the silencer ring ,it made the Turbo "Sing"

does removing the cat, cause you to lose some bottom end performance? is keeping noise level down and warranty in tact the only reasons for leaving the kitty alone?

So lemme get this straight. For about $80 I can just delete the muffler? Why would I pay $400 for a cat-back system if I can do the same thing for less? Is there a benefit to the $400+ cat-back systems such as power/temperature (looks aside) that the simple $80 mod will not get you?

Depends on who you ask. The factory 4'' system flows pretty good when the muffler is gone. Unless you are making really big power numbers it will get the job done.
