Who has done headwork on a street truck?

I know, probably a stupid question. But who has done some porting and maybe a full intake bolted on to the machined off side of the head?

About how spendy is head porting (I am sure shops vary, but what have people paid)? Same question for having the side of the head set up for a ZZ-fabrications or Banks Boss Hoss full length intake?

Just thinking outloud. Always thinking about my next mod, before I have any dough together.

Thanx.

I'm not sure on a cummins head But I did My heads on my v-rod With a friend who has done it before and it was pretty easy. Just very time consuming and tideous. Lots of time in a chair with a die grinder

unless you're going with a full blow motor, a ZZ intake isn't gonna be worth the cost. They're about $3500. It is the only way to do a true porting job though.

My head is ported but, more of the metal came out of the exhaust side. The intake side is very hard to get a lot out of unless you cut off the plenum.

IMO, you should spend you're money elsewhere gain more hp.

I've seen prices from hundreds to thousands, depending on
who's doing it. the air flow determines the price.
I saw a post that said $300 to mill head for zz.
If you want to keep your grid heater I don't think the Banks will allow that.

Thanx for sharing your thoughts guys. I would not even attempt to port the head myself, I would stick a grinder through a water passage or something.

Yup, they are on our trucks. Street driven and everything. It is a lot of work though. The head comes off, valves taken out, cut the stock plenum off, machine the surface, port the head, and then assemble everything.
