Here's where I put mine. I'm sure you'll get lots of replies about what is right and wrong.

Did you remove the exhaust manifold prior to drilling it out. I would suspect that drilling and tapping with manifold on the engine, there could be possible damage to the turbo resulting from the cuttings. There must be a better location after the turbo?

Typical unloaded highway driving is about 300-400 degrees difference, towing I have seen as much as 500 degrees. The highest I have ever seen on the Pre-Turbo is about 1200 towing in the mountains during the summer with the A/C going.

Hey guys just for your information on of the guys who posts on this site regularly sent me this PM when I found out he had two pyros, one pre and one post. You can see depending on driving conditions there can be as 300 - 500 degrees cooler post turbo. One of the reasons we put pyros on is to accurately monitor our exhaust temperature, as it exits the engine, not the muffler. I realize I'm exaggerating but is it 300 degrees cooler or 500 degrees cooler with my current driving conditions, let me think.

I put mine on the top also. Use greese to help catch the cuttings and use a magnet to remove any that droped inside. I also used a tupe vacuum but I did not get much. Works great and easy to install.

I just did mine this weekend and i drilled the hole a little more to the right of the one in the picture this way i didnt need to drop the turbo . i also found even with the grease i got a fair amount of shavings in the manifold, using the magnet i was able to clean out the manifold.

this is where alot of people said to put it so I put mine here...

I dropped the turbo and taped it off to keep the shavings from getting in the turbo.

Alot of people here said use alot of grease and no problems so as an experiment I tried that at the same time.. I was suprised at the large amount of shavings that did fall to the tape so I am glad I dropped the turbo as a precaution.

I did mine just like the first 2 pics. I did it little by little with a magnet and blowing the crap out of the way and with the truck running. Drilling and tapping, the stuff flies right out of the way once you are through the manifold. Just make sure you wear safety glasses. It also gets hotter than you know what. I have never done anything like that and mine turned out great. Mike

When we in stall them we always install them in the exhaust pipe right at the flang the pyro wont reach as high its about 100-200 degrees less on the gauge so you have to keep that in mind. The benifit is just drill and install dont have to worry about the turbo or anything like that pluss if any thing ever happened to the prob in the manifold you have no more pyro and no more turbo when if its in the exhaust right where the flange is, all you have to worry about is if it ever was faulty and broke, it would maybe get stuck in the muffler or peg some one's car. Just my opinion.
