Where to put Tranny temp sender?
I saw on a link that theres a port on the PS side of the 48re that we can use. i have a sender for a isspro temp gauge. will it owrk by itself or do i need the sender extender? Where else is a good spot and obviously all require you to drain some tranny fluid right?

This topic really has been beat to death.
Using the pressure test ports in the tranny is not recommended. You will not get an accurate measurement of the fluid temp because there is no fluid circulating around those ports. The probe will be stuck in air bubbles and stagnant fluid, so all you're really measuring is case temp.
The hot line (adapter line sold by Diesel Manor) is the best way to go. The only other decent alternative is putting it in the pan, but that will read the fluid temp after it's been cooled. The hot line is the only way to get the true max temp of the fluid.

Any opinions on the Accu Temp? Idea seems reasonable.
The hot line is aluminum correct?
Aluminum transfers heat and dissapaits heat very quickly. Seems like it would be accurate? Anyone try that and hooking into the line and notice any difference?

IMO the AccuTemp will read accurately, but the response times will be less than desirable.

No need to drain the tranny if you're installing the hot line from Diesel Manor. Just let the truck sit for 12-24hrs and most of the fluid will drain back to the pan. I only spilled a few drops when I did mine.
Your gauge should have come with the correct probe. Just screw the probe into that adapter in the hot line and you're done. The "Sender Extender" is only for use in the test ports and helps to keep the probe from blocking up the passages.

genos garge hot line seems like the better way to go. but 80$. Anyone have luck with the $30 geno garage accutemp adapter? Does the adapter coolw ay too much on highway? i read some saying that the accutemp reads 0 when u r driving and the hot line reads 140ish when driving?

When I had mine installed, it was put into the test port in the tranny and it works OK.
Im looking into changing it out for either the accutemp from Genos or the part from Diesel Manor.

My isspro gauge is in the hot return line on the trans and my commander sending unit is on the passenger side of the tranny in one of the test ports. I have compared them and the temps are surprisingly close, I believe either one would be fine unless pulling real hard then the hot line is the way to go. When I removed the plud from the side of the trans some fluid did come out, but not very much.
