Question When to add mods ?

I just took delivery of a 2006 megacab 2500.
4.10 rear and 48RE auto.
I was told that for the first 5000 miles, the "computer" will be anylizing the driving habits, rpm, and ? every 100 miles and will "optimize" the engine/transmission for best milage and performance.
I was going to wait for 5000-10000 miles before adding mods to make sure everything is working and doesn't need warranty work. But, will the "optimizing" then be set for stock, or will it adapt to the new mods? Perhaps it would be better to add new air intake and more open exhaust right away, to allow the "computer" to "optimize things with the less restricted airflow mods??
I'm cornfused...don't know anything about this new "optimization" stuff.
Any informed suggestions to clear this up for me??
thanks,
Sassparilly

i know a guy who took a little box to the dealer with him!

i hear that too about the computer...may be BS...i dunno. i drove mine hard when new and it programmed for that i guess...cause its the smokiest stock 05 i had ever seen. puff of black smoke everytime i hit the throttle..not much but enough to see in the daylight.

Most ppl try to make it to 36k, when part of the warranty runs up..i made it 35k and couldn't wait anymore

I had my 05 about 2000 miles and it had a full Magna flow exhaust and a AFE stage 2 already on it.. I had the dealer the AFE for me.. I went and got the Superchips flashpaq just so i could change my tire size.. The dealership i go to has been trying to get me to put on the Edge Juice, they stock it.. I was in the part dept today and they had atleast 8 in stock for my truck..

The owner, the GM and everyone in parts is waiting for me to get my twins, injectors and everything else i am gonna put in it.. The own said you let my guys put it in, i'll make sure its covered..

It was his demo at 1st but i made him sell me it, cause i wanted a black 05..

Its good to have a dealer waiting to see what your gonna do next

is there a noticable difference in a truck that has a cold air intake? also when adding a chip or intake, is an aftermarket exhaust needed to see the extent of the improvements?

I just want to know why everyone waited so long to mod their trucks? I mean 70 miles???? Gosh at 70 miles I had to purchase new rear tires!!!!!!!

The best answer as to when to mod your truck, is when you are ready. Do not let someone elses opinion, mine included, affect what you will do. Some get really paranoid when they start modding and others just enjoy it. You want to do the latter. So when you are comfortable with your truck and you do your research and you are comfortable with the products you are purchasing, then mod it. If you are slightly hesitant then do not do it, you will make yourself miserable, driving with the radio and A/C off listening for a squeak or rattle.

Hope that helps.

Ditto that...

When I spent the money for my Xzillaraider(Saved my lunch money ), I was caught red handed installing it in my truck. I sure didn't enjoy the butt chewing, but that stopped once she drove it.
