No to beat this one into the grave... but i was at my local 4 wheel parts and he informed me that the backspacing pushes the wheels and tires in now out? i was ready to order and i told him what i wanted and he said why do you want it to sit so narrow? so back to square one... any input?

you still haven't mentioned what size tire you'll be running. if you're planning on running a 35" you don't have a choice- you'll need 5.5"+ BS or you'll rub the rear of your front fender well. if you're going with a 33", it's just a matter of personal preference.

I have 35's on 17x9 Pro Comp 1079's with a 4 3/4" BS. I get rubbing (slight) on fender at rear of wheel well with a 2 1/2" leveling spring.

so i went with 33x12.50 load range E( i was told they are comparable to the toyo MT) pro comps xtreeme mud terrain witht he XD revolver rims blk i could not pass up the deal i got 1400 mounted balanced with spline drive lug nuts

I just did not want to deal with worrying if they would clear or of they are going to rub. if i dont like them and it looks funny with a leveling kit next tires will be 35"

what BS did you end up getting? you may not be able to run 35's even with a leveling kit-depending on what you got.

I am running 17x8s with 5.25" of backspacing with 35x12.50R17 Toyo MTs. So, the wheels stick out an inch over stock. I think this is a good level of backspacing when using fender flares. Keeps the tires just inside the fender flares which should protect the paint.

I think a 8.5" wheel with 5.25-5.75" backspacing would look good. Going to a 9" I would want a minimum of 5.5" with up to 6".

I don't have any rubbing issues on mine. Just touch a portion of my mudflaps below the fender liner. Don't touch the control arms.

I have seen pocket flares with a 17x9 wheel with 4.5" backspacing(Moto Metals) and I think it sticks out too much(beyond the flare). Also its going to give you rubbing issues.

Heres a picture with thinline EGR style flares. I'm now running Bushwacker Extend a fender flares and it looks good. I will get some updated pictures soon.

And here are the extend a fenders on a dusty truck
