Whats a Normal Fuel Pressure Reading on a Gauge???

Just installed my set of gauges, and I'm getting a reading of about 5psi, with the engine off, 7psi on.

Is this normal???

Just installed my isspro gauges this weekend and my fuel pressure gauge reads about 7 psi, and that is with a fuel pressure regulator. With my autometer ultralite gauges they had a fuel line running straight into the truck from the pump and I was reading about 8 or 9 psi. The 7 psi reading is around normal.

Ok good....

Its got a isolator running from the Hp pump inlet up to the gauge.....

I'm used to the Ford with it running 50-70psi.

With the colder weather i've been seeing around 7 idle, 5-8 while driving, sometimes down to 4 at WOT. When we had a warm streak it would idle in the 8's.

Well at Idle after driving around, its 5psi at idle. 2 or maybe even down to 1psi at WOT.

This is AT the Cp3 pump, at the Banjo bolt.

A little worried here....

You might want to check into a FASS or Air Dog. That would be dangerously low at WOT, with what your running.

I just don't like the sound of ZERO psi of fuel pressure at WOT, when thats when the turbo is just pumping air and everything is spinning like crazy........and there's no fuel???

I thought with this Cp3 pump you didn't need a lift pump . Isn't that how the chevy's are running their Cp3.

My understanding was as long as you had positive numbers you were fine and it was acceptable to go to 0 psi at WOT. At least that's the theory.

That being said mine runs 7 at idle with warmer weather and stays at 4 or 5 with our cold weather.

I believe you are right Medic , the cp3 only requires that there is a positive press. at WOT ,

I think you are both right Shawn and John. Mine was running just fine w/ 0 psi but I still don't like it.......

As long as you have a positive psi reading it is okay, mine drops to around 2 even 1 sometimes at wot. These new systems are not like the older 1st and 2nd generation trucks. Most places will tell you that it is not even necessary to have a fuel pressure gauge on the new trucks, I have one though just to monitor things.

If you guys don't want to empty your wallet just run a secondary pusher pump inline get you up to 15psi W.O.T. and will also make factory lift pump last a long time I just clocked 100k with stock lift pump and Carter 4611 pushing behind it.

Kyle, can you elaborate any on how and where you installed your carter pump ??? I was wondering if it was necessary to keep a certain psi when you run aftermarket products such as a ramifier or other fueling box.

thanks,

matt

Its pretty much the "Lift Pump Kit" from BD, is what Kyle had told me, in which he sells.
