What's next
Hey guys I'm new here. I have an early 04 auto 4x4. I have already installed an edge ez and the standard set of gauges.when I bought the truck it already had a straight pipe. I really wanna know what I can do to make it a Lil more efficient and make a Lil more power with out killin the tranny. I know it's going to die one day just don't want it to faster than it should.

Can't really do any free mods to the third gens like you can earlier trucks.
Run synthetics, make sure you have the newest version of air filter, all your maintenance is up to date... truck is clean and tire pressures are up...
Adding a more free flowing exhaust, gutting the intake tube to remove the baffles, adding water/meth injection...

I keep the maintenance up on it pretty good. I just want about 400-450 horse without melting it down im just worried about the tranny. Also when I got my edge it came with a brass fitting that went in the turbo. If I got a smarty would I have to change it back to the stock one cause I lost it

Nope. That is a boost elbow, lets you make more boost.
With the stock turbo, anything over 37-40 psi just makes hot air and is not efficient.
450 hp on a stock tranny... not gonna work for long. I was around 450 on my edge, keeping it on 3 the majority of the time, it took about 6 months before my TC started slipping.
Time to start saving for a tranny. Save for it and do it when you want, not when you need to because it's broken.

Also I'm about to drop my tranny pan to change the filter and fluid but I was told it was a bad idea. I have not had the truck that long and it had 150k on it and I don't know how it was serviced before. I know the fluid is dark but not burnt. So is it going to kill my tranny putting fresh fluid in it if it has never been done before

You'd have to call around for prices... you're looking at 4k-ish, but I have not priced them in a while.
Dave Goerend is good, I'm happy with my ATS.
As far as the tranny fluid... whatever you do, don't have it flushed. If you are planning on some tranny work, you might as well wait until then if it has not been serviced. I would go to the dealership near you and ask them to pull the maintenance log, see if it has been done.
I wouldn't say it will kill it, but when you put the fresh fluid in and a new filter, it will break old stuff up because of the increased flow and good fluid...

What peeps don't realize is you can have 9,000HP but when you roll down the road you aren't producing 9,000HP.
So you have 500HP and you drive normally, you actually see normal horsepower to your transmission. If it takes you 200 horsepower to go from 0 to 60 normally, that's what it will take to do it once you have your 12 bazillion horsepower nitro fueled sled puller. Just stay off the gas most of the time....

I agree. I run my smarty on 9 all the time.....and I've towed on long trips and never change it. I just watch the pyro and drive it reasonably. I also have an MP8 pressure box but I keep it on zero percent unless needed for fun.
