What's a 48RE tranny worth?

I might have the opportunity to buy an ATS Stage V fully built tranny without having to turn in a core. If I were to get this tranny and swap it out for mine, does anyone have an idea of what I could get for a 48RE tranny that's in very good shape? I have never pulled heavy or run the tranny hard, no boosted launches and never turned up my power mods past 100 HP and only tried that the day I got my Smarty. The transmission has 20,400 miles on it, of which 6,000 were with the JA and about 250 with the Smarty. Any guesstimates?

Shifts great - smooth. I've never had a lick of trouble with it. I have been waiting to either build this tranny or buy a built tranny before adding much power. Before I had the Smarty I ran the JA on setting 1 90% of the time, except when I towed my jon boat and then I'd turn it to stock and it always shifted well . . . no need to let up on the pedal for it to shift or rough/hard shifts.

The trans is definately worth something, but it might be something best sold locally or something. With everyone looking for built trannys, I wouldnt think there would be a large market for it. If I were to guess I'd say $1500-$2200, but I dont know?

Thanks. I figure the only market for it would be someone who's not doing a lot of power upgrades but could use a new transmission. I honestly don't know though.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Check with some of the tranny builders and see what they would pay for a good core?...

Well, I'll have to have someone install this tranny if I can get it . . . so it would probably be part of the conversation with whoever is going to do the tranny install I suppose.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder....

Should be worth at least $1000 if the person installing the new one is interested in it...

Well I'd sure think that the 48RE would have to be worth at least the same as a 47RE? Of course, in isn't remaned and shouldn't need to be either? Hmmm.

the smarty tq management def helps the tranny shift smoother and firmer. i can see it helping extend tranny life- depending how heavy your foot is.

Smarty has only been on the truck for a few hundred miles - if that.
