Question What voids warranty???

Hey all,

I have a list of mods that I'd like to do to my new truck, but not sure which ones void the warranty and which ones do not. I realize that most boxes probably do void it, but I am looking at a lot milder mods until the warranty is up...

Some of the mods include:
Gauges - Pyro, Boost & Tranny temp
Exhaust system
Intake system such as Scotty Ram Air 3 or AFE
2" leveling spacers

Any info that keeps me out of trouble with the dealer would be greatly appreciated... thanks!

Everything but drivin' it .....

Depends on the dealer.... they usually allow exhaust mods.... thats about it.... some get picky when you start messin with air filters... I haven't had a problem with my BD X intake.... yet.......

I've heard of people getting hassled by the dealer just for having guages! I guess that they figure you put the guages on there because you put all the other HP stuff on, and then pulled it all off for the trip to the dealer!

Now who would do that?????

Best thing to do is ask the dealer that will be servicing the truck. Mine told me they allow intakes and exhaust, but not boxes. I'll wait to stick a box on mine until the warentee is all most up.

What voids your warranty? Your dealer voids your warranty. How good of a relationship do have with your dealer? I had a dealer that I had a great relationship with, I had an entire engine replaced under warranty on a bombed Durango, obvious bombs and I did not remove them prior to towing it to the dealer. No static, no hassle in fact they installed my headers on the new engine. The failure turned out to be a casting flaw on one of the pistons, in my opinion a problem that was obviously not related in any way to my bombs. Could the dealer have denied warranty coverage? Probably, but I am very glad that they didn't. I doubt that my current dealer would be as accomodating.

Went to my dealer with all of those mods and the guy told me, "cool truck", no problems. I took off the Edge chip though. He was suprised that I didn't have a chip. He said all the mechanics with CTD's have their trucks chiped. I would guess it would depend on the dealer. He told me they were not too concerned about trucks with mods....I believe there are some dealers out there that are installing Banks mods on customers trucks.....

Thanks for all the great info guys! Well, I haven't had to deal with my local dealer's service dept yet, but it won't be long. I will take your word and ask them before doing anything. Maybe like Grand Geek said, if I let them do the install <<CRINGE>> , then it would be ok... with THEM anyways! I just can't stand the thought of them molesting my baby...
