What updates will be needed before I get a programmer? I know about the trans. But will I have to get a bigger fuel pump to run the higher settings? Also does the programmers have the gages I need to monitor to engine and what gages do I need. Sorry but kinda new to Diesel Engines and trying to get all the info I can.

Well, I dont claim to be an expert but some programmers have electronic guages built in, others prefer the analog. I personally like analog guages because they do match the stock guages perfectly. You will need a EGT/Pyro, a Boost guage to 60psi, and a Tranny temp guage if your an auto. As far as programmers/downloaders a lot of us here are fans of the Smarty. Its a downloader and does not have electronic guages so youll have to get seperate gauages. It claims to not be detectable by the dealer but that is debateable. Im sure some others will chime in about other programmers available. I would also be interested in knowing if I need fuel mods to run the Smarty on SW9.

I'm also new to the Deisel world. I had talked to a friend that has been into them for a while and he suggested the Bullydog triple pup. I got that and the outlook monitor and could not be more pleased. It seem to have increased the mpg by 3 or so but I can't be sure as I haven't had it long enough and I can't keep my foot out of it. The power is addictive!!! The guys on this web forum are a lot of help with anything to do with your truck so keep in touch.
Good Luck, you wont regret it.
Oh by the way, check out the classifieds on this website, you should find a few new or almost new for really good prices.

The PMT (Performance Management Tool) is a very nice upgrade. It has all of the gauges built in as well as the programer. It's basically an all-in-one deal. The user interface is very nice looking as well. It's one of my favorite power adders by far. If you are wanting a digital gauge/chip combo you can also look into the Bully Dog Triple Dog/Outlook, Edge Juice/Attitude, and my favorite the Quad Commander/Xzillaraider combos. All of those work great.......

If your looking for something with guages built in don't forget Edge Juice w? Attitude monitor. Plenty of power, adjustable on the fly, lots of safety features, and all the guages you need at a very reasonable price. Only other guages you might need are fuel pressure and rail pressure. I need one of those new rail guages from Quad.
