Something To Worry About>?
Yes, as in Omaharam instance it can lead to turbo failure due to thrust bearing cycle fatigue. This occurs due to the constant loading and unloading of the bearing.

If you re read my entire post where you extracted the partial quote you will read that your attempt at layman's terms confused me and I have a very complete understanding of the condition. So there is little chance for your layman's terms actually meaning something to many of those that read this forum.

I believe my first post was a reasonable answer to the question of "What is surge?" by defining the stall and surge stage of the compressor.

As for the OP concern about the specific turbo's tendency to surge well that is dependant on factors that have have not been presented.

Since my new T/C was installed I've noticed more "Bark" in my turbo. When the T/C locks during the 3/4 shift it sometimes causes the turbo to bark. Is there anything I can do to prevent this besides letting off the throttle during the shift.

Just got my exhaust in the mail today. I'm going to try to put it in. I'm not sure I'll get to it this weekend. I'm just concerned as I can't have the truck down for weeks fixing this. When I put on the exhaust, I can't put the old turbo back on. The exhaust is for a 4" outlet which the Garrett has. My stocker is 3.5".

The turbo install went rather well for me, the kit included everything needed and it was done in about 6 hours (probably 4 or less if i had to do it again).
Dont sweat it its fairly simple and I think your going to enjoy that turbo.
