I used to have a 64/65/13, and it did not spool fast enough for me. I was wanting to do a 62/65/13, but I have had alot of people tell me it will get hot and to go with the 62/71/13. I cannot stand the lag so I don't know what to do. I am leaning toward the 62/65/13. I bought the 64/65/13 used so maybe it had some wastegate issues that they used to have. I called HTT and they told me to go with the 64, but I don't want to go down that road again.

First point - listen ONLY to follow Automatic owners! A manual can deal with a lot bigger turbo by winding out the gears. We can't.
Second - We spend 99.9% of our driving at less than WOT. Live with the higher egt's when playing hard. Buy to satisfy your needs for daily driving.

I also can't stand the slow spoolup. It led me down the road to twins.... which is the only way to get both low egts' and fast spoolup!

If you did not like your 64/65, I would do the 62. If the egt's become a serious problem, add H2O/Meth injection for when you play hard. (200* lower egt's and slower climb on the egt gauge).

i heard the E.D. 62/68/13 is a good compromise between both, anyone tried it? i had a 62/74 and i also hate lag. i'll second RowJ on the twins. i wouldnt give you 500 bucks for that 62 after driving with a set of fast spooling twins.

going with a bullseye style wastegate adjuster makes a world of difference on the stainless htt housings wastegate adjustment IMHO makes a huge difference on spooling with the stainless housing design

the biggest problem is waste gate opening too soon get a buls eye adjuster tighten it up & wallah........... welcome to spool

If you are going to spend that kind of money just go for a stocker/S400 setup from MPI and be done with it. I may go that route next year. Haven't made my mind up yet...... It may be a 62/65/13ss/S400 MPi twins setup.

I have the 62/65/13ss on my truck with TNT on SW9 all the time. It CAN get hot if I punch it below 2000rpm with a heavy load, starting with the T/C locked, but otherwise I have trouble getting it over 1450 @ WOT up a hill. Spool is slightly slower than stock, but manageable.

What has to be done to make this style of wastegate? Do you have any pics?
