what should i see for rail pressure readings?

I am trying to decipher (sp) my rail pressure readings. What are rail pressure readings stock? What are they with a pressure box of sort, like a MP-8 or DrP box? What should they be with the pressure box stacked with a smarty on SW7? The most rail pressure i have seen is 21K with the pressure box and Smarty on 7 with a stock cp3, stock sticks and a Air Dog 150? Do larger injectors allow for higher rail pressures? What is the danger zone for cracking stock sticks with to much rail pressure? Thanks for the insight

I cant tell you what you should see but can tell you what I see. With the smarty TNT on 7 at wot I would see between 21k and 23k for rail pressure now add the MP-8 and it was up around 25k. As far as too much pressure I'm not sure, my understanding was how it is being applied, rail pressure spikes are to be avoided as is running over 20k for extended periods. Also anytime pressure is used a good filter set up is a must!

Is an AD setup with a 3 micron filter okay ya think?

I've learned from other threads tromping on it and letting off suddenly is bad for injectors, but us stick guys will be doing that when we shift won't we?

I just picked up an X2 to stack with my BDTD so I'll be watching this one...

Fisherguy imo the lower you can filter the fuel the better, 3 micron or 2 micron both way better than stock. For the most part unless your racing I dont think letting off the fuel to shift would be considered that sudden to cause injector death normally I am more worried about barking the turbo and typically roll off the throttle before shifting as I'm sure you do as well.

I guess I do, it doesn't bark when I shift...

The most i have seen for pressure is 21K and that is with the Dr P pressure box and smarty revo on 6. If i go to any higher setting on the smarty or to any of the mid setting on the smarty with the TNT software, i dont see 21K. I would assume that is one, my cp3 cant keep up for the demand for fuel and the rail is draining to fast and that cp3 mods are needed to keep the rail pressure up or i have some other type of problem. Before i added the AirDog, my pressure was failing backwards when i stepped on the throttle and the truck felt like i had a dead spot in power. Since the airdog on the lower smarty settings, the rail pressure does not drop like it used to, however on the higher smarty revo settings and the smarty TNT settings, i still have the same problem, just not quite as bad as it was before. I have a Arson III kit that i am putting in this week or weekend hopefully if i have time and i am hoping that this will keep my rail pressure up and eliminate it falling backwards before slowly climbing. Does what i said make sense? Thanks for the help and info.

That makes sense. I'm sure the arson 3 kit will help. Also you might want to check your rp gauge connection, from time to time mine will read a little low once I unplug it and plug it back in all is good again.

I have noticed that sometimes when i start the truck it will hover around 7500 and i will drive for a while and come to a stop and it will be reading at 5K at idle. Doesnt happen every time, but on occasion. I heard there was a inline fiter or something that dipricol was selling or giving to customers that all ready had the gauge that goes inline somewhere on the wiring harness.

I see 6-7K at idle, & 24K at WOT with TNT on Sw-9, & RP-2. Moderate throttle, & load, & it jumps to 17.5+/- More load, & it will fall off to 15K, but climbs back with more throttle. It varies.

It seems like most guys are seeing higher rail pressure than what i am at WOT. I did a run a couple days ago from about 55 to 110 with the DrP and the smarty Revo on 6 and it seemed to be holding at 18-19K rail pressure which i thought was low. I try to no flog the throttle very often and i dont beat on the truck, so i have only done a couple of WOT runs. The highest i have ever seen rail pressure was 21K and that was with moderate throttle excelerating up a hill, 99.5% of the time, i never see anything higher then 20K for pressure. So, the short of it is, i dont know what to make of all this info Thanks for the help
