What is the safest EGT's on an 05 Dodge
Had the truck up to 1300* today with the "Hot" Juice on Lvl5 and a 65hp Xzillaraider box. Stock turbo and stock automatic transmission. I don't understand how nothing hasn't blown yet. Knock on wood.

I have had my 1700* pyro pegged for over 20 seconds while sledpulling....
No harm that I know of yet.
Also had it up around 1550* on a Mustang Dyno for over a minute or so.

I can sit there all day long with the box shut off when pulling the mountains in Colorado. Withe the box on the low setting it will easaly hit 1400+ in the same conditions and I can peg my 1500 gauge on high even here in the flats of iowa with nothing behind the truck. If U are talking post turbo then ya 1300 is high from what I have read but pre turbo it will go that high even stock. If I remember corectly from my last vacation to Colorado I was sitting at 1350 pulling abought 12K threw the mountains with the box shut off. It would go up to abought 1400-1450 with it on the low setting. I dident want to sit there for 15-20 minutes at atime while climbing the mountains so I just shut it off even though everything i read says that 1400 is ok, I figured better safe then sorry. It pulled the 12K up the 8 mile long 8-10% grades at 75-80 mph any way so no need to risk it when I am already passing cars up the mountain.

I think Cummins specs these motors at 1250°F all day long, if I am not mistaken. I saw as high as 1600° spikes with my old SP Eliminator, but I have the Juice set to defuel at 1400° right now.

I also have seen my Autometer 1600* pyro gauge pegged and 1710* showing on the STS Remote for a second or so before the end of the 1/4 mile at the drag strip. I don't recommend it at all, I have the TST defuel at 1350* daily driving. I was able to hit 1400* completely stock except for the 315 tires on a sustained WOT or with a load.

I can easly hit 1650 with just a bully dog pulling a big load and going up hills, When i turn it back to stock, I can get well over 1500 . You think of some of the guys out there that go and buy a brand new cummins, put a 5th wheel hitch in it, hook up to a 35ft stock trailer and hual a full load of cattle up and down hills all day long with no Exhuast temp guage. I don't think they take there foot out of the throttle b/c they think its getting hot.
