Mine is not straight piped....I have a 4'' straight thru 30'' Magnaflow muffler (no cat). I am running an AFE Stage 2 intake. Stock auto trans/Stock turbo.

With Smarty on Level 5 it dyno'd 397.5 hp and an estimated 750 ft lbs tq. on a dynojet. The tq number was not available due to a sensor problem on the dyno.

hey texas,
those are very nice numbers considering you are still so close to stock! a lot of mods would have to be done to a 7.3 to get up there...anyhow, do you think your particular setup would do almost the same numbers on my 07? or do the different year engines respond to mods differently?...sorry, new guy here!

I am pretty much a newbie too, as it relates to downloaders and power mods. I have just learned from reading here.

I got the Smarty because I knew it would be easy to stack with other boxes/programmers on down the road. And, because it makes great power just as a stand alone downloader.

Maybe somebody else can chime in that knows more than me on this, but as far as I know the 04.5-07 trucks are pretty much the same and produce the same power. The Smarty should act similarly on them and produce about the same power.

Level 5 on Smarty is 90hp + timing. My truck dyno'd (on a dynojet) at 280 hp, stock. The Smarty pushed me to almost 120hp just on Level 5. The Smarty is (at least on my truck on that level) is performing above expectations. I am running level 7 now and seat of my pants power is a little stronger but less smoky. Still smooth as silk. But I don't usually push it hard until the truck is moving because of my stock trans.

Before you put a downloader on your truck just make sure you have a good 5000 miles on it (if you are considering this).

I have seen several low mileage failures do to power mods.

pourin,
thanks for the advice! i'm so eager to begin bombing my rig and it hasn't even arrived yet! but 5000 miles seems like a good break-in period. almost overlooked it!

another thing, how often are you guys changing oil? especially with mods?? are you following the 15,000 mile interval per dodge? or sooner like 3000? what about oil changes during break-in period?

i know you guys don't like these multi-question posts and i'm sorry.

I usually change my oil every 10k miles. I had a sample anyilized at 3k, at 5k, and 7500 and again at 10k between changes and the oil did not break down any more at 10k than it did at 5k. So I just go by that. And I always used Rotlella 15w40. So I am just stating that my oil lasted 10k no problem, could have even tried 15k but I don't have a problem with every 10k so that is what I do. Now maybe with more miles on an engine and your beating it hard you know something has to get past those rings and it may be a good idea to change more often then.
