"Yes it is a regulator thats flow characteristic is altered by both pressure and temp. And that in itself is why it can do things that other systems don't. It only ties into the head at one point."

Might want to tell Opie that.

It is controlled by both press and temp. The opening set point is lower at high temps (>200 f ) it will help to cool the motor faster when needed. It will also relieve excess press cold, it just does it at higher press than hot. Tim

I stand corrected! I was wrong. It's only happened once before, I won't let it happen again!

Ok so If a guys not a retard and he does not jump on his truck before its up to temp then the temp part of the valve should not matter. Would think that if a person would set a pressure relief at radiator cap pressure (16-17psi ?)then you should be golden.

It does matter...

The cap is a relief and I blow mine wide open...and it is a LONG way from the hot spot.

With the bypass in place is the block off plate for the freeze plug still going to be needed.

I would imagine not but just checking.

Im not running any block off plates, only time will tell but I have no plans on blocking them in the future. If you warm up before mashing and have a bypass I think you are good.

Any thoughts on the electric water pump. Should not need a bypass and may free up some HP.
Anyone running one of these.

It will not eliminate the hotspot in the head and also hamper towing performance.
