Question What mods do you recommend ->

I have a 04.5 6 speed. Runs like a top and get around 21 mpg on the interstate. I've spoken to some guys that run boxes and they all brag about the big power increase and increased MPG to boot. So...I have a simple question. What mods should be done to my truck to boost power, increase mileage, and most importantly not effect reliablity?

Thanks...

When my truck was bone stock it got 18-20 on the highway.

On the way back from Michigan getting my tranny I ran with the tst on 1x0 and the bully dog on the 90hp setting. I averaged 18.75 hand calculated.

On my truck I don't think I gained that much milage with the boxes but I have alot more power and still get the same.

the mods to be done depend upon what you intend to use the truck for. are you going to do mostly heavy pulling, racing, using as a commuter, etc. all uses will benefit from intake, exhaust, and some module(depending on intended use). the first mod to be done when preparing to increase performance should be gauges.

Gauges, gauges, and gauges. Make sure you monitor your EGT's, boost, trans temps. You can then move on to either exhaust, induction or programmers, chips, or tuners. I prefer Bullydog, but hey that's just me. You can definitely tri before you buy which is cool. Have you done a lift yet? Good luck.

Heavy pulling (equipment trailer) and alot of empty driving too. No racing (well maybe a little! ) or sled pulling.

1st gauges
2nd exhaust

4th module(quad, bullydog, edge, etc) some make towing only modules
5th turbo.
depends on how much you want to spend, pull etc.

ditto....but after an intake i would look at an aftermarket lift pump before you buy a module. Bullydog on Extreme and Juice on 5 can drain fuel rails with a stock LP.

yep, he's right, forgot that. I did gauges, module, exhaust, lift pump, intake, then turbo. in that order. and it is downright FAST
