For the money vs the gains, that kit that pipes air to 1 and 6 looks like cheap insurance. 200 degress of EGT is quite a bit if it is a true number. What did yours actually drop sr4440?

Good point! Quadman will likely be sending me his 4" cast elbow, but I'm not sure if he will be sending the 4" flanged downpipe with it or not. I'll be sure to take note once I see what I'm working with.

So I've heard of a few other spool aid/spool up kits out there....there's Rolling Smoke Diesels, I believe Shane with Wicked Diesel has one, and then I saw someone on the Cummins forums selling one. Question is, does anyone know who makes the best constructed kit (best fit, quality, etc)?

I'm thinking yall are right, changing from the 3-1/2" cast elbow to a 4", and adding a spool aid is what I need inorder to avoid having to upgrade turbos and/or adding water/meth. This goes along with what James Northum was telling me, so I think this will be the ticket.

I thought most only saw about a 50° drop WOT, a little more at partial throttle but that's usually not where EGT issues arise.

Don't discount manifold/turbine blankets, they do wonders for spool.

It was around 50-100 degrees, just about all the time. I don’t hammer my truck very often, so I am not sure what the WOT number would be.
I tend to lug my truck (I know it’s bad) but once I put the SA on, the truck had just a little more torque down low. I also have the stock cast aluminum intake horn with it’s built in restriction, so maybe that has something to do with it.

FYI your going to need a new band clamp for the 4 inch down pipe.

4" downpipe for the 04.5-05 52121600AA
Clamp for the above 52121285AA

Your issue is due to too big of sticks. The 1.8 sticks are too big for your turbo. I would go with twins if I were you.

Couldn't a performance Cam help with this as well?

Read his signature. He already has a Helix 2 from F1.

So the 555's had emissions cams in them like the 600/610 motors? I thought only the 04.5 and up had camshafts that kept the exhaust valves from opening all the way along with the third injection event for emissions purposes therby causing higher EGT's as a result.

Everything I have seen points to all 5.9 HPCRs having the same cam.

F1.8's are the 90hp sticks just to clarify, and yes I have a cam already. I did the cam, studs, springs, injectors, and intake horn all at once.

I wouldn't think the 1.8's are too big for my single since back when I got them that's what Don reccomended per my setup, but times have changed! LOL My thought would be if I had twins I would have bought F2.5's, but I'm also the guy sitting here with high egts. I just know if I go twins, then I will need more fuel! LOL...it really never ends. I thought I was done a yr ago since my truck is getting high mileage, but she won't die so gotta keep bombing!
