What are killers of injectors?

Well the worst killer would have to be slapping one with a piston. That teds to screw up a lot of stuff. Dirty fuel is a BIG one, o while back it was posted on this site that Bosch recomends filtering your fuel down to I believe it was said to be 2 microns. Thats what i run in my FASS at least. Yes excessive pressures can kill an injector too, infact thats how i killed 4 of mine. As far as normal rail pressures im not sure there is a lot of info floating around on that.

Bosh has reported testing their injectors to 29kpsi all day long without failures this was directly from ts performance website and they got the info off of bosh's website. We have been told by several injector companies that injectors can take 30+psi for limited amount of time. They also said that its more spiking effects that damage and crack injectors, they said it like this its like an empty coke can if you start to crinkle it over and over again eventually the can will crumble. Bad fuel is a huge cause especially now days with lots of companies cutting corners here and their just to save a few bucks.

bad fuel will kill injectors big time. jet,#1, and ?jp-8? killed my daddy's injectors in his brand new 07 ,as a good son i told him not to put his "homemade" diesel in his truck but he did anyways, now he blows white smoke and rattles bad, dealership said he had water in his tanka six gun,smarty,and a heavy foot didn't help either

Yes all of the above.Pressure is not good, but to be more specific on dirty fuel,let's take a look at what's in our fuel.I tried to attach a video, but it won't let me.Pm me and I'll send u a video that shows what is flowing thru your injectors at 20,000-30,000psi.

That'a good one! Then I'd have to say the #2 cause is dirty fuel. At 20,000 p.s.i. it doesn't take much dirt to destroy an injector.

The oem and aftermarket 2 micron filters takes care of the dirt, but not the metals.Think about metal flowing into the filter housing.Metal , unlike dirt or other debree is very sharp.Metal WILL makes its way past the filter(10,5, or even 2 micron)A 2 micron filter is a terrific add on but, it won't stop the metal.The fuel strainer will.

Injectors operate at water-jet cutting pressures, so impurities in the fuel certainly cause death by abrasion.
IMO, corrosion is a significant - if tertiary - accelerant of MTBF in electrically pulsed injectors. Considering the tip material/fluid medium mix, I don't think dissolution is possible.
No doubt severe pulsing creates hydrodynamic spikes that cumulatively fracture injector tips and initiate shock-induced crack propagation from micropitting caused by erosive particles.
Of course, the high combustion chamber temperatures elevate the tip alloy quite a bit higher towards it's range of plasticity...
