What "Free mods" are there?
I am new to the diesel world, but have been into building high performance cars for quite a while. I have a 98 Z28 drag car, and there were a bunch of free mods you could do yourself in the beginning to help with hp a little.
I have an 04 3500 and would like to know if there are any little things I can do to increase performance for free, or very cheep.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can do the tone ring mod to the crank position sensor, and swiss cheese the air box... other than that...
I'd just improve the air box and not worry about the crank sensor. All that does is give you a little more timing.

A great MPG programmer is to take an egg out of fridge and tape it to the go pedal on the truck.
Really though, everything on these trucks costs money. You can do a relatively cheap CAI doing the modded airbox. But the stock box is good unless you're going really big on the truck mods.
Another is putting on a good replacement muffler (if you have a stock 4" system already). If not, that would be a good upgrade, turbo back system to get the truck breathing a little easier.
Short of a programmer and hard parts, there's not a lot you can do for performance on the CR trucks.
I can't comment on anything else - I have no idea.

So far I have a Quadzilla Adjustable Xzillaraider II, a 4" down pipe, and a muffler delete pipe on the way. I also want to add a home made pipe that goes from the S&B intake box to the front grille.

Actually I think I'd go for an upgraded intake horn. Oh, if you haven't already, now would be a good time to get a 2mic filter system on the truck. It isn't one of the go fast mods but it's a good preventative maintenance addition to the truck.

Something that gets overlooked on these trucks is a simple maintenance procedure that 'could' net you a bit better mpg and throttle response.
Take a 7/16" deep socket and go around and tighten up all of your intercooler clamps. Do the clamps at the turbo as well. You may be surprised at how loose the clamps really are. Tight to us is not always tight to a hose under boost pressure.

I saw a reference to this in another post just recently. I think I'll go out and do this as well.

I think the price is a bit high. You can get GDPs version for $199.
Here is a link to the topic that will explain what I'm thinking a little better than I can explain: http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummin...don-filter.htm
That info is provided by one of DTRs locals

Yes, so does GDPs universal kit. Have a look on GDPs site. The link I posted was just to the 2mic kit I bought. GDP has a number of versions depending on what system you're looking for.
