What exhaust is for me??

I have a 2005 dodge cummins and I cant decide what exhaust to go with. I dont want anything loud at all while im cruising, when I get on it if it gets a LITTLE noisy I think ill be ok. I want something that sounds decent and gets rid of that ugly stock exhaust and isnt raspy. I also would like to hear that turbo scream a bit more. So what size, brand, cat-back - turbo-back, and if you can a good place to get it.

Thanks
Nick

Prob MBRP or Silverline, the turbo will come out if you do a intake.

do you have any mods? If no mods then you might consider just changing the muffler and adding a tip. 05's are stock witha 4" exhaust and unless you're gonna try and reach 500-550 hp a bigger exhaust really is not necessary. Just my .02. Trying to save you minimum $400 here, which equals a set of gauges that you will need if you decide to add any performance enhancing box or downloader. You will still have $100 left over after the gauges.

well personally a larger exhaust would be money wasted if your not gonna do much more power.. If you want to just change the tone search for sound files on you tube of diesel exhaust notes. Find a muffler that you like the sound of and change out your stock muffler for the one you choose, and if you want some flash, buy a tip and have it installed.

My magnaflow sounds great. There is cab noise when I get on it but other than that the sound is barely noticeable. I put a longer tip 6 x 18" to make it look better. I just replaced my stock muffler with a shorter magnaflow and the tip. It cost me 200 installed.

I got the Maganflow 5" turbo back no CAT and love it, there is some cab noise getting up to speed but nothing to bad..

When you get use to mustangs w/ flowmaster and 4:10 anything is ok

I have MBRP duals that sound great but not too loud while cruising. I still have the cat and if you want to keep it somewhat quiet I would probly leave that in from what I've gathered on here so far. Like they said, if you want to hear the turbo whistle, do an intake...K&N really made mine whistle when I put it on...

I just put on a muffler delete, and it is not really that loud. I have a little drone at 1400-1500 rpm when on the pedal a little, but pretty quiet cruising.

AMEN to that! That's why I returned my AFE Stage 2.

I went with a 30" Magnaflow. Many may think it's too quite, but I don't want a drone while crusing down the highway.

First I went with an Aero Turbine and then an Aero Turbine w/ resonator. TOO LOUD. I guess I should see if someone wants to take it off my hands.

Did you remove your cat? If so, that's where 90% of your drone is coming from. Don't ask how I know.

My '05 with the cat and a 4040L is not too loud at all. No drone. Perfect for me.

I would like to retract my earlier statement on drone. I used the RPM pipe and band clamps, and the clamps were loose which let the cat sit too close to the crossmember . I readjusted my clamps and made a temporary hanger and it is way more quiet that I would have thought for running no muffler.
