What is a DPF Delete??

I have heard alot lately about a DPF Delete but have no idea what it is and if it can/should be done to a 2005 Ram2500 5.9L with around 108,000 miles. Pros and cons would help. Thanks

Normally the guys w/ the 6.7L have to worry about that. Us 5.9L guys don't need to worry about it since we don't have a DPF.

The DPF is the diesel particulate filter, added to the Cummins equipped Dodges in mid 07 model year, or the 07.5. It is an emissions device designed to trap soot (short answer), but causes a loss of fuel economy and has caused problems with a lot of trucks.

You need programming to delete it.

Not applicable to your truck.

I don't miss my 2007.5 w/ the 6.7L. It almost left me stranded in west tx because it was faulty. It wouldn't burn anything off so it went to limp mode.

Its fixable. Mine burns EVERYTHING off and is now in sprint mode. Soon enough it will shift into launch mode...

Deer716, if you are really curious about what we 6.7 guys have to deal with on a new(er) truck(s), give this a read.

I had it fixed at the dealer cause that part was under warranty. The 8mpg in the city was killing our fuel budget. With this (used new to me) 2006 I'm getting around 13 mpg in the city. Much better now.
