What do you need to make over 500 horse

Ive been looking around here for how to make over 500 horse and i have a few questions.

Ok we'll start with the trans. The input shaft is the weak one correct and will need to be upgraded what about the output shaft?
is a single disk torque converter good enough?

pumps: do you need to upgrade the cp3? or is the stock capable of supporting this much hp efficiently

injectors: will the stock sticks be able to handle it or will i have to get some flux's

Head: will the head have to be o ringed and studded? or are these just precautions

turbo: will the stock he351 be effiecent in this range or will i need to upgrade. i would really like to run twins someday because they are sweet but for now hopefully the stocker will do or will it get too hot

programmer: will the smarty get me there without any of the other power mods injectors/turbo etc mods and if so what are the downfalls to running only the smarty

To be reliable / safe, i'd say trans (input is the key shaft, output can be used as a fuse, it wornt take out rest of trans if it goes out - normally) - i have a dtt single and love it, dont think it matters between 1 and 3 disc, just preference, smarty or bully dog will offer plenty of programming, turbo to keep it cool, 62 will get you to 500hp and be very streetable, aftermarket fuel pump will most likely be needed.....that and the basics like guages, cai, muffler swap would also be needed....

icing on the cake would be cp3 mod, small injectors, pressure box - but none should be needed for 500hp....more for 550+hp

I havent dyno'd, but pretty sure i'm at 500hp....can do 13.7@100 in the 1/4 without maxing settings.....plan on f1 injectors and an mp8 to get me to 550ish.

I assume you are talking about the 03...

I put down 530-ish with a hot edge, tranny, walbro, air and exhaust. Stock injectors and CP3.

The smarty should do it for you with basic upgrades.

If you want to upgrade the CP3, I'd look at wicked diesel's Arson III kit, it is pretty cheap. I have the Arson II, and it supports 636 with my mods...

that is what i was looking for so the output may not be needed if i dont need an output shaft that means i will not need a flexplate as well or would the output just be extra insurance. i will not be doing any drag racing just want it to be streetable thanks guys

streetable is a relative term. if you want the ability to use all your power, its important to cover your bases accordingly if you want to avoid trouble later on. Driving these trucks on the street isn't necessarily less stressful than occasional racing. 500 horse is 500 horse when the pedal goes down. you can manage 500 horse without any additional billet shafts if you want. most recommend the input because of its location and potential to do additional damage when breakage occurs....but, i was still stranded when my output shaft broke. If you want insurance, go billet for both. the output gets weak after 450horse, so risk is relative to the driver and usage.
a stock cp3 will support 500. after that, it depends on the truck. some more, some not.
stock injectors easily support 500. i just rolled 583 yesterday.
stock turbo....not without running really hot and not streetable for prolonged periods.
good luck
