What are the cons for a lifted truck?

I understand that bigger tires affect 1/4 times but do lifted trucks make it worse as well? The obvious pros are ground clearance for off-road, looks good and thats about it, who can name me some cons. I do not really do off-roading, im keeping my truck performance oriented but wouldnt mind a little lift. I was thinking on the 2" leveling kit but I dont know if thats enough or even adding a leaf spring in the back, or even a 4" lift kit, dont know but would like to know. Remember I dont want to be losing performance b/c of this, feedback would help, TIA

Viking,
Personally after lifting about every truck and jeep I ever owned here is what I know.......
1) There is a point where its just to high, looks stupid and is a waste of money.
2) most of the time you are the only one that thinks its cool.... (when its over done)
3) A good lift is one that will allow the truck to do every thing right....
(off road to a dinner date)
4) unless you have super deep pockets to maintain running off road tires ( they are really the only ones that look cool on a lifted truck) on a daily driver, I would skip the super off road thing....
I think a 2 inch lift with some nice 35's is a killer all round truck....

Anyway... just some thoughts form my time....

So another words, keep it simple with just some bigger 295s or 315s and like a 2" Leveling kit?

seems like they dont carry anything for dodge trucks. Does MTR stand for Mud Terrain Radials? If so, what brand tire?

Viking,
Goodyear Wrangler MTR.......
315/70/16 on the ford......
they only make a 305/70/17 so I have been looking at BFG... 315/70/17 MT for the Mega....

P.S. I bought a Hell Bent Steel 2 Inch Level kit for the truck I am waitng for..... with 35's should look pretty good.....
"O" BTW..... Maine is one of the USA's toughest states on Mods.... Not allowed to lift trucks or go any more than two sizes over stock.....
It sux..... with all the woods us rednecks have we get the rules.... Go figure....
