What can I use to plug Exhaust Manifold EGT probe hole?

So, I traded in my 2004.5 on my 2006 Mega Cab. I will have to bring my truck in by next wednesday (dealership is giving me time to take off what I want from it). I will be taking my Quadzilla Commander guages off. That means there will be a hole in the exhaust manifold from where the egt guage was installed. My question is what should I use to plug it? Anyone got any suggestions?

Will the brass be affected by the heat of the exhuast stream ? (Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable about metals). I want to make sure I plug it with a safe metal that won't melt/crack, etc. The dealership gave me a great deal on my Mega Cab and I want to make sure that whoever eventually buys my truck that I traded in, gets something that is going to be safe.

Most brass plugs aren't pure, they are an alloy of some sort. I wouldn't use one as there is a chance it could melt. Just get a good old fashioned 1/8 npt plug, black or galvanized pipe.

i'd pop for a machined steel pipe plug with a hex head.. easiest to remove/apply after many heat cycles. cheap cast iron plugs with a square head can have the head crumble when removed rounding it off.. just some hi-temp antiseize on the threads and don't overtighten it...

Why not just leave the probe in and get yourself a new one for the new truck??? That's what I just did.

yeah brass is the answer.. but like what dzilla said,, is a good idea, gives you a chance to put a new probe on,, they do wear out after time

I'd leave it and get a new probe for your new truck. Pyros have been known to give false readings in time why not get a new one
