I have only broken 1200 deg once and that was hot rodding with a 8000 lb trailer in tow
BADBOWTIE, I just installed my EDGE EZ but my Westach combo guage is on backorder. I will be pulling about 8000lbs through the desert this weekend with a few steep grades. What level do you think I can safely use for the trip? I was thinking level 1 or 2 max. I won't hold you liable if something goes wrong...just looking for an opinion. I have an otherwise stock CA 235HP. Mike

With your engine being a CA model I am not really sure as to the answer. I ran my hot temps trying to pull in overdrive to achieve speeds which I should not have really been driving. If you drive with some sense I would think level 2 should be fine. I added my exhaust and my intake before my truck was a month old. I did not add my gauges until my truck was about 3 months old. I do not really know how hot a stock truck runs. I know that many guys are pulling bigger trailers at level 2 and 3 and they are not worried.

What about Level 6? What happens if you run at Level 6?

it's my understanding that the cheaper edge box isn't compatable with certain types of concrete heat sinks when tail pipe is run through it to lower egts?
Might have to go with the higher priced concrete model which has more agragate for your money! sty

I was towing on level 6 but like I said I had already made intake and exhaust improvements. I do not know enogh about the CA model to know about how hot they run. The 305 and the 325 have oil squirters on the pistons, I do not know if the older CA model does or not. I believe that the CA model has a cat. That will always cause higher EGT's compared to the same exhaust without one.
