Or really....what are the options?

I'm soon to be in the market for something and right now the Edge EZ is about the only one that I'm familiar with.

With any luck, I'll be getting a 4" DPPI exhaust, a Ram Air III and an Edge EZ (or something similar) in the near future. Gauges will follow, but I'm not too worried about those at this point since I don't do a lot of towing.

Back to the question.....what other options are out there besides the Edge EZ? What are the known issues or problems with any of them?? How do the prices compare (I have found the EZ for $467 so far). How do the HP and torque improvements compare??

Thanks for the help. I'd like to keep whatever one I buy in the $500 range. I just can't see spending much more than that on a few more HP right now.

Must have gauges first with 3rd Gens...they are hot. Really glad I listened to those who reccomended gauges first!

 

The Edge gives a lot of bang for the buck, even without other mods. Definitely get an EGT gauge too!

 

I was hoping that between the Ram Air III and the 4" exhaust then the EGT's would stay down where they need to be (although I must confess I have no idea where that is).

Say you do have gauges....and you are too hot....what do you do to get the EGT's down? Pull over and wait??

What kind/brand of gauges do you guys recommend? DiPricol?? Those seem to be a good match for the factory gauges.

Your EGT reacts quickly...let of the go pedal ever so slightly and the temps will drop. There is a "sweet" spot relationship between pedal pressure and RPMs that will generate the lowest EGT's. It is easier to find that relationship with a manual, but still possible to find with the auto. Get the gauge and drive...it is the only way to learn. I love the DiPricol...their latest version is the closest match to the OEM gauges. There are multiple ways to mount...search the forum.

 

So, if I'm hearing correctly then if you're only going to have ONE gauge then that one gauge must be the EGT gauge.

With that said, I'm now considering the following combination:

DiPricol EGT Gauge


Mopar Pillar Replacement (from SRT-10 Ram)


Assuming the DiPricol is a standard 2" gauge, this should be a good combination.

 

The autometer EGT gauge is a nice match.

If you don't mind waiting a little longer and paying a little more, the Edge Juice w/Attitude would be the way to go! Don't ask me how I know!

 

A mild pressure box and a set of moderate injectors. You can use the injectors for everyday driving and get after the pressure when needed.

Funny indeed. I also remember when I thought you were just a little pain in the neck. Now I think you're a halfway decent guy.....halfway.

My warranty will be over in just a few months (at least the 36,000 warranty will). I don't plan to do anything that will harm the truck so I'm not too worried about it.

I've heard some good preliminary reports about the Juice w/Attitude. It sounds interesting. It also sounds expensive. Remember, I AM married.

 

$395 shipped on an Edge EZ is a very good price.

 

Hoss I have the DPPI exhaust and the Ram Air III with an EZ. I do have gauges as well. If you do not tow and you do not hot rod you should not have to worry about getting too hot. I have only broken 1200 deg once and that was hot rodding with a 8000 lb trailer in tow. I am glad I did do the gauges. My fuel pressure can be drawn down to 1 psi with the go pedal mashed. I am glad I spent the effort and money to monitor whats going on with my engine.
