I agree. If your not running over 500hp I think the stock filter is the best(and cheapest). If you just have to do something you might look at the PSM system. Lots of people like it's design and copy it using pieces bought at Lowes or Home Depot. You might also check out the "new" factory drop in filter.

I have the Ice Box CAI, I run the Amsoil 4091 in it and also an Outerwears pre-filter. It produced the best results when it comes to oil sampling results.
I run oil sampling with every oil change, the stock box with the 'old' drop in did a poor job. That sent me looking for a better filter immediately. I got the Amsoil drop in for my stock box, my silicone dropped quite a bit, close to half.
I modded the stock box with the PSM hose, still used the Amsoil drop-in, the silicone oil sampling number remained the same, very low - good numbers, and they were consistent. When I did the PSM mod, I was concerned about taking intake air from the fwd area of the fenderwell because I live and travel on a lot of dirt/gravel roads. The PSM mod doesn't increase the silicone from the additional air source when a good filter is doing it's job.
I have no experience with the new factory drop-in, but it is certainly a better 'appearing' filter over the old drop-in, should do a better job. Obviously they changed it for good reason as the original drop in filter was poor at best. That old filter probably was a major contributor to 'dusted' engine problems.
I prefer a dry filter over and oiled one. Oiled filters and dirt/dusty conditions are a PITA, the frequency of the cleaning needs is rediculous.
