what to beat ford

What would I need to beat a buddies ford psd with a 100hp tune? That thing is pretty fast. If id guess it be mid 14s? Also with lets say the bddl triple dog, does the no tq managment ok to run with the stock tune? How much faster will it be?

the torque management delete is awesome. gauranteed to smoke your tranny the first hard launch. and i know for a fact it will do it. supposedly no one even builds a tranny stroung enough to hold up to it, except ats. and it don't last but a couple of passes. crazylarry will be all you need to blow his doors off.

You want to smoke his PSD? Leave your truck stock and race him with 10k behind it on a trailer. Or challenge him on days when his PSD is in the shop. That should be once every 2 weeks or so.

Any 100hp tune should get you past him from what I have heard.

Edge Juice on 100hp setting will take a PSD on a 80hp setting, I've done it.

If its the highest level on like a superchip, you will need every bit of the 140hp of an extreme tune from bullydog.

As stated, Crazy Larry will smoke him UNLESS he is running a SCT tuner, which will make a PSD turn 13.9's. SCT is the ford version of Dodge's Crazy Larry basically.

to run crazy larry well, you need tranny and fuel system mods.

It doesn't take much to beat a PSD. A stock 6.0 PSD only puts down about 480 or so lbs. of torque. A stock 610 CTD puts down about a 100 more at the wheels. You could probably beat him with the "tow" setting on a bully dog.

oh about crazy larry smoking tires...i have very good gripping Toyo Open Country's on mine and i can squeal them pretty good taking off with no brake.

Fords can spin a lot easier....my buddy with a powerstroke could spin all day long on stock tires with a 80hp chip....Dodges can't spin as well since we have this beautiful thing called Torque Management...and it hurts our performace somewhat but its what they had to do to be able to handle Cummins' produced torque.

The problem w/ beating a powerstroke is not the power they have, but the rate their trannies shift w/in their torque/powerband(if we're talking about a torqueshift). Those trannies are actually awesome when they work right. Alot like an allison, hopefully Dodges' new 6spd auto will compete w/ these trannies.

What size trucks are you two running, it makes a good size difference if he is running a 2wd or 4wd, single wheel or dual wheel, four door or two. That is something you need to compensate for. HP to weight ratio.

If he is a 2wd two door single wheel, and you have a four door 4x4 dually, you will need to take that into consideration. Just give us a better picture of what you are working with.

I have seen stock Dodges beat Fords with 100HP programs.

Sure... on a truck with a stock tranny once... maybe. Like others have said you are starting with more power than him, but your tranny is the weak link. I would say with no tranny upgrade you will do well with a Juice with attitude, or a BDTD. The Edge being the safer for your trans.

Its just money

PSD's are unreliable pieces of junk..no doubt about it. But put 10k behind an auto PSD and 10k behind an auto dodge...pull up a hill and the dodge will lose. I live in denver, the hills here are called the Rockies...and as much as I love the dodge trucks they are last up the hill (automatic versus automatic). There just isn't any arguing that, even the shootouts say that much. That being said, I wouldn't park a PSD in my driveway on a bet, and I like the fords....just not that motor.
