Question weight of engine

Does anyone know the weight of CTD and D- Max and Ford?

I wonder why the powerstroke weighs that much? It certainly isn't the stellar headbolts or injection system. Perhaps the electronics to auto-dial a towtruck weigh a ton?

I've always heard the Cummins comes in at around 980. The D-Max has a cast iron block with aluminum heads, the DT365/Powerstroke has cast iron block and heads.

The 980 number is probably more accurate.
I have weighed the common rail on a scale but I dont remember the exact number...I do remember however it was under 1000 if you took the pallets weight out of the equation.

1150 includes apps, alternator and coolers I do believe. I'll let you know what the engine weighs as shipped from Cummins including the APPS...when I pick up engine #3 next week. I will have the weight complete with coolers and key when I pick up engine #2. ks

Luke, 3 spares would be crazy !!! # 1 is half in my truck, Half on the shop floor. I'm at the highspeed but I forgot my cable for the pix. I'll post engine #3 pix in a minute to my gallery. ks
