Water/Meth VS. Nitrous

I'm thinking about putting water/meth or nitrous on my truck for truck pulling. What are the positives and negatives on both. thanks

I may be speaking out of place, but I don't think Nitrous is allowed in a majority of truck pull events. DHRA don't allow it anyway. You may just want to use water to cool things off.

Water seems to work pretty well for cooling. Adding the meth will add more power but can be volatile i've read.

Pretty much the rule of thumb is this...

If you're underfueled you would benefit from the water/meth. If you're overfueled you would benefit from nitrous.

I am selling my Snow stage 3 because I don't want to go any bigger on the turbo, but with my set up, it smokes black clear 'till the speed limiter at 110mph. I want to give nitrous a try to see if it will help burn that excess fuel.

Im planning on making water/meth my next mod. I plan to go with a set of twins in the near future, so I think itll be warranted. Am I on the right track?

Water/meth isn't a good idea unless you run WATER ONLY.

Wow seems to be a lot of information to back up that statement...

I run a coolingmist system, while running a 50/50 mix I can't get my EGTs over 1300 50* less than without the water/meth.... I use my system mainly for towing and run a 70/30 mixture (washer fluid) allows me to run a bit hotter settings without having to worry about EGTs....

IMO Water/Meth is good for daily driving and Nitrous is for competition only, increased cylinder pressures are just to much for a stock head IMO...

I used to run a Stage 2 Water/meth system. One time I would flip the switch and love the power....the next it wouldn't do anything but knock. timing knock. It burns very inconsistent and its point of detonation is around the head gasket.

Go talk to the experts. Chris at Relentless and other guys like that....they run nitrous and not water/meth. Theres reasons for this.

just my 2 cents......

PS.....Nitrous is safter on headgaskets than Water/meth due to the point of detonation.

Depending on which 'expert' you talk to you will get different info... If its just for use on truck pulling, id say that Nitrous will get you further and Water/Meth will help get you there cooler.

Maybe not. Where is the nitrous being injected? Pre-intercooler or in some cases spraying nitrous pre turbo does ALOT of cooling.

I was spraying water/meth straight into my intake manifold and only ever saw a 150-200* drop. It wasn't a drop on the top end of EGT's, it dropped as soon as meth was turned on. After it was spraying, the EGT's would get just as hot but took longer to get there.
